As soon as I decided I was going to attend Mercy, it was time to pick out classes. When choosing my first year language, it was between French and ASL, but I had heard many positive things about the french program, so it wasn't a hard choice. As the year closes, I’m extremely happy about my decision, because not only was the class intriguing, but I was genuinely able to learn, unlike my previous language classes in middle school. 
    For most of my life, I switched between Mandarin and Spanish classes, so French was a huge change. My favorite part about this class was the people I was able to learn with and about. It was easy to get comfortable with my peers and be able to express myself through my work without feeling awkward. Not only was I able to learn more about my classmates, but more importantly, I learned more about myself. When describing myself in French, I had very little vocabulary memorized, so I was constantly describing myself as a tired, always hungry person, which turned out to be true during quarantine. :)
    As my time in high school passes, I plan on taking French all four years, so I am definitely looking forward to getting more fluent by my senior year. I am hoping to travel to France, and although I dont believe I will be perfect in three years, I want to be able to communicate with French. My life has definitely change by using French, because now I find myself watching shows in French with English subtitles, listening to French music, and researching deep into French culture. It was interesting learning about the culture in French speaking countries, especially because there are so many.
    In conclusion, this school year was very interesting, but French made it better every time I had class. I’m looking forward to more classroom time and activities next year! Au Revoir!
