In some situations authentic ones work better, in some situations the ones in the coursebook work better. In an ideal world, I’d go for authentic materials mostly because I’ve been taught in university that they’re most effective but we don’t live in an ideal world so I’ll mostly go for the ones in the coursebook.

Question 2- I think some of them would work but since my students’ level is very low 
most of them wouldn’t work. It’s not possible to tell for certain which ones would work which ones wouldn’t. There’s only one way to find out. They don’t think that speaking English will benefit them in any way.

For pre, I’d keep the original matching activity for strongs students and for weak students I’d insert a 3 things you know 3 things you’d like to know activity. For post, I’d insert a roleplay activity for strong students and for the weaker students I’d keep the original Q&A activity.

For instance, I could ask the students to add some synonyms or antonyms for the words they have written. It would also be a great tool for repetition of the words they have learned. They’ll have a compilation of words they have learned throughout the year and maybe some other words they have learned. I have made great use of vocabulary notebooks as a student so I definitely am a vocal advocate for vocabulary notebooks.

Grammar question 2: I think my colleagues in a PDC meeting would like to discuss the hardships that they generally face while teaching grammar but ideally they also  want to discuss new methods, ways or applications that have helped them while teaching grammar. We can also discuss solutions for possible problems.
