A nurse must explains to a patient/guardian about a trial/study that they can be a part of, give sufficient information for the patient to make an informed decision whether to be in that study or not. The patient will need to signed informed consent on risks, outcomes, findings, how the data will be used and written/explained in a manner that the patient understands. Nurses should understand that their are specific groups of people that are more vulnerable to research studies than others, specifically cognitively impaired, children and people of lower income/education areas.
