In February of 1945, the leaders of the allied forces --- Stalin, Churchill, and FDR --- held a meeting in Crimea, Russia, where each leader shared their current agenda's regarding post-war world re-establishment. Held in Berlin, Germany, the Potsdam Conference was the third meeting between the Allied forces, where the Stalin was "informed" about the Manhattan Project (he was already aware), and the fate of Soviet-occupied Poland was discussed. These included international social and economic cooperation, and overall postwar peace, influencing the creation of the UN in 1945. Amidst the Russian (communist) occupation of Germany and other European nations in 1948,  the US, under the containment vision of the Truman Doctrine, established the Marshall Plan, which was a multi-billion dollar investment into re-building and politically/economically stabling the over 15 European nations to prevent communist spread beyond the “iron curtain”.
