Once upon a time in the 90s the movie Joe Vs the Volcano came out. The movie is very slow at the beginning which might've bored the reviewers, but at the same time caught their attention. It starts off with a melancholy vibe, because of the music and the lack of color. The director chose a scheme that shows how everyone is living the same day to day and nothing special is going on. The very long intro made me wanna rip my head off. It lacked action and enthusiasm. The characters seemed very off and weird, which made me wonder if it was worth watching, but let's not jump to conclusions.

Joe vs. the volcano is introduced as a fairy tale story that is implied to be an imaginative movie with elements of romance. In actuality, it was a cryptic story with hardly any character development, for the females and Joe himself, and few fantastical elements. The few fantastical elements it did have included the poorly conceived idea of natives that drink orange soda. Even Fanta didn't want to sponsor this movie that was doomed for failure.

It is a very interesting feeling to feel absolutely nothing; to feel, well, blank. Blank, in this case, is defined as empty, boring or simply uninspired. Some other examples of being blank are: an empty sheet of paper, the mind of the kid drooling in the back of class, and Joe versus the volcano. Focusing on the last one, Joe versus The Volcano is a story (I think), about a guy named Joe, and a volcano that erupts. That's all that you need to remember about it. There is more to this plot, but honestly it was so dull that I didn't remember it. The characters were one of the few things that this movie did right, but only on Joe. The rest of the characters were unmemorable

The stars of the film Joe vs. the Volcano are Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Their roles include Tom Hanks as Joe Banks and Meg Ryan as not one but three characters named DeDe, Angelica, and Patricia. Character progression is relatively slow considering the time period in which the film was produced. Certain aspects of the film seem rushed, such as Joe's romantic interest in Patricia. The quick development makes the romance inorganic and distracting. Though the film has a fantastic cast and great dialogue the resolution is less that stellar with its rushed action sequence and abrupt stop.

From what I can remember the movie was all about Joe, a guy who has an awful job. It goes through showing how awful that job is, then it changes by having him have only six months to live. He then goes out and quits his job. This is where the plot goes from being somewhat interesting to downright ridiculous. After he quits his job, he fails at romance with a very empty character. Then the next day he gets a job offer to go jump into a volcano after twenty days of living in luxury. The rest of the movie is him shopping, sailing, or on an island. The movie try's to stick with fairytale themes that were well distracting. In the film they seemed to be short on female actors as Meg Ryan played all three of the important females in the film. Where she somehow managed to fail at all three. The only thing the movie did well concerning characters was there development for certain characters, such as Joe. Who for example progressed from a jerk at the start of the movie to a well caring person who puts others before himself

With dim lighting and cool coloring, the cinematographer takes the movie to the next level by having the lighting add progression to the movie. At the beginning of the film the lighting starts out very dark and dim while adding the effect of cool tones. This occurs mostly while Joe is in his office with beige walls and fluorescent lightings, creating a worn down work space that even a conscious rat wouldn't go into. As the movie goes on, the scenes get lighter, leading up to the climax at the volcano where the warmer tone sets a heartfelt mood.
