Akria: Ya absolutely man shoot.
Me: How old were you when you started to play guitar ?
Akria: I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old and that was in 1994.
Me: Ok.Who were you’re biggest influences when you started playing?
Akria: My biggest influences were the music that was on the radio at the time, so nirvana, um Pearl Jam, but then once I started playing more and I got better right you always want more so I got into 80s rock so I was really into Van Halen, Randy Rhoades, Jake E. Lee, and I also like the music that my parents liked so my mom loved the eagles so I loved the eagles too, I love don felder, the original guitar player for the eagles, um I’m tryna think what else. Jeff beck. I went through a phase of really loving Eric Clapton and I still do. 
Me: Who doesn’t?
Akria: Yeah I know right he’s fantastic, And um I really like micheal shankier from early UFO. Ya those are all rock guitar players because I grew up being a rock guitar player right ? 
Me:Yeah
Akria: I like that style of music. But once I went to college I played all kinds of styles Of music so I have a really really big library of musicians and players alike not just guitar players but just musicians in general but early on it was like those like Van Halen all the rock guys.
Me:Ok. What made you want to play ?
Akria: Uh I was forced to play piano like all Asian children are right ? 
Me: The classic story.
Akria: Right. Ya so we had a piano and my sister quit so I started playing piano and but I liked the imagery of a guitar player. I liked the way guitar looked ya know and particularly Going back like Brian May from queen it’s the image of him ya know with his big curly hair and guitar and the smoke and everything and it just it looked cool.
Me:Like classic Metallica?
Akria: Yeah Yeah and I liked the way and I think was drawn to the way it looked maybe more than the way it sounded but then once I started realizing what guitar sounded like and what parts on recordings were guitar and that’s I think was what got me really excited about playing but ya I started off playing piano first and I was proably like 6 and I played piano for a couple years. 
Me: Um how old were you when you went to college for guitar ?
