In chapter 27, page 372 and 373, Katniss says to Peeta , "So. Haymitch has been coaching me through that last few days." Peeta then says, "So, what you're saying is, these last few days and then I guess...back in the arena...that was just some strategy you two worked out." Peeta also says, "It was all for the Games. How you acted." Then finally Peeta says, "One more time? For the audience." This shows how the main character Katniss accidentally gave out that she was 'playing' Peeta and he fell for her, himself actually but she also loved him too. 
As you can see Katniss playing Peeta has impacted the plot because now Peeta thinks Katniss never actually loved him. The message the author was trying to express is, that Katniss would need to fight to live in the hunger games to get back to her family and get the rewards of winning for her district. Also because the Capitol basically controls the districts and the reaping, forcing the children that are chosen in the reaping to fight each other in the Hunger Games and kill each other. I know this because in the novel in chapter 1, page 15, Katniss states, "I protect Prim in every way I can, but I'm powerless against the reaping." Katniss also states, in page 16, "At one o'clock, we head for the square. Attendance is mandatory unless you are on death's door. This evening officials will come around and check to see if this is the case. If not, you'll be imprisoned." I added "Safe and Sound," to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of Katniss and Rue/Prim's relationship. The lyrics state, "Don't you dare look out your window, darling: everything's on fire. The war outside your door keeps raging on. Hold on to this lullaby. Even when the music's gone, gone~" These lyrics make me think of Rue's death when she asks Katniss to sing the song, it also reminds me of Katniss and Prim, how Katniss kind of has to stay happy for Prim. When the song mentions, "the war outside your door keeps raging on," it makes me think of how the hunger games is basically a battle to keep yourself alive. Or are we the prey?" These lyrics make me think of the novel; in chapter 1 it expressed that in the Hunger Games  24 tributes from each districts are chosen to compete in the Hunger Games. In the Hunger Games they are forced to kill each other. The last tribute standing wins. I added "I love you so," to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of Katniss and Peeta, basically how Peeta likes Katniss but how at the end of the story Katniss accidentally made it seem like she never loved him and it was all an act to get through the game from the novel. It reminded me of what Katniss said at the very end of the novel when she stated, "Already the boy with the bread is slipping away from me. I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment I will finally have to let go." The lyrics, "I love you so, please let me go," make me think of Katniss saying, "I love you so," and Peeta saying, "please let me go." This is why I think this song fits Katniss and Peeta's relationship at the end of the novel.

My unfavorite part was Peeta and Katniss falling for each other, or Katniss faking her love for Peeta in later chapters because I’m not a person who likes people falling in love. I also didn't like all the kissing Katniss and Peeta did. Also Katniss and Peeta are in the Hunger Games, where tributes have to fight and kill each other. In my opinion I think the only reason Katniss probably didn't try fighting and killing Peeta was because of the announcement of two tributes being able to win the Hunger Games, because she had the chance to kill him when he was injured and weak, but didn't. I think this also because of how Katniss faked her love for him so both of them could live. I believe Katniss would also fake her love when kissing Peeta so they would get food delivered from Haymitch. My favorite character was Cato and/or Thresh because Cato was an interesting type of antagonist/villain in my opinion. I also loved how Cato acted and how he would kill anyone in his way, wanting to win the Hunger Games. I also really like how Thresh cared for Rue in a certain way, since he felt like he owed Katniss back for it. If I could change one thing, it would be Katniss faking her love for Peeta or Katniss even wanting to fake her love for Peeta. I would change Katniss faking her love for Peeta because it would hurt him and then also because I didn't really like how Katniss faked her love because they're in a game where there can only be one winner and all tributes have to kill each other. I didn't like all the kissing and loving stuff, it kind of bothered me. It also seems weird to fall in love, or fake falling in love where everyone is your enemy and you'd have to kill them.   One technique the author used that I really disliked was the sentence structure because of the way the author describes the scenes in chapters 20 through 27 about Katniss and Peeta's love for each other. One example of this is in chapter 22 page 298 when Peeta and Katniss kiss each other when Katniss said that she wanted another it made me kind of cringe inside and I didn't like how the author would describe it. At the start of the novel Katniss is more or so kind of emotionless due to the fact of having to hide her emotions from the gamemakers. I know this because in the text it mentions, "So I learned to hold my tongue and turn my features into an indifferent mask so that no one could ever read my thoughts." I would say Katniss is also selfless because of how she makes the sacrifice to hunt despite knowing the punishment of doing so, and how she decided to take the place of Prim and be the tribute in the Hunger Games. During the events that unfold, Katniss begins to have to open up her heart up to Peeta in the Hunger Games. This can be seen in chapter 19, when it states, "Haymitch couldn't be sending a clearer message.  One kiss equals one pot of broth." This is also evident in chapter 20, when Katniss almost dies trying to get medicine for Peeta. At the end of the novel Katniss is feeling worried and upset. This information is shown when Haymitch tells Katniss that the Capitol is angered by having two tributes win and Katniss making the Capitol seems like a joke. She is upset by the fact  that Peeta is saddened about the fact Katniss faked her love for him to get out of the Hunger Games together. I added " Glory and Gore " to my playlist because the lyrics remind me of the events of the Hunger Games from the novel. The lyrics state, "Now we're in the ring, and we're coming for blood, Glory and Gore go hand and hand, now we're making headlines." These lyrics remind me of what Katniss states in the novel, chapter 1, "The last tribute alive receives a life of ease back at home, and their district will be showered with prizes, largely consisting of food. All year, the Capitol will show the winning district gifts of grain and oil and even delicacies like sugar while the rest of us battle starvation," thus being 'glory'. Though you have to compete and kill others while in the Hunger Games, Katniss states this, "Over a period of several weeks, the competitors must fight to the death. The last tribute surviving wins," this being 'gore'.
