What I knew about Painting
Just like sculptures, paintings have always fascinated me. The details put into it through the different techniques and media used, to the message that the artist wanted to convey. All those little things would always pique my interest whenever I came face to face with a painting.

I've always (and I still do) just liked to stare at paintings and take note of the little details that the artist added. I try to uncover and understand the message that the artist was trying to convey.

However, that was all I really knew about paintings. I didn't know that for those details and message to come into life and be conveyed to the viewers, the artist had to also consider the different elements that would best deliver the message the artist was trying to say.

What I learned about the form of Paintings as a Fine Art
Through this module, I was able to learn and better understand how those individual elements and principles would come together to create and capture a moment that would speak volumes about what the artist wanted to convey.

I learned about the different eras and how those eras differed from one another, and also their similarities. From the techniques used by the artists, to the type of stories that (and moments) that they want to depict or capture into a painting.

I was also able to learn how important the role of style is in paintings. Such as during the Baroque period wherein they applied chiaroscuro which defied the traditional positioning of valued and tones that mimicked reality. By applying this technique, the artist, through their paintings, was able to better depict and aid in the viewer to have a better grasp of the emotion present (such as with Rembrandt's The Prodigal Son).

What else I'd like to know about Painting
Paintings have always fascinated me, and I loved learning about the past eras and the different artworks created during those times.

However, those focused more on the West. I'd like to learn more about the paintings created and found in the East, and see how much the two differ from one another.

I'd also like to learn more about local paintings, as there is a wide variety present all throughout the country.
