Students get pushed into BOCES if they aren't good at school
BOCES students aren't "good at school"
BOCES students like hands on because their reading and writing skills are low
BOCES students are more likely to be special ed (classified)
BOCES students aren't interested in "normal" classes
Maybe traditional students have more support at home
BOCES kids just prefer working with thier hands
      But some BOCES programs are mostly book work, like Criminal Justice which has the highest population rate
Schools don't teach career skills that the world needs and that's what they want

BOCES students are failing at least 1 class in any given marking period at least twice as often
In 2018-19, almost a third of BOCES students were failing a class compared to just 5% of traditional students
All students are most successful in the 1st MP
Almost half, 47%, of courses taken by a BOCES students over the year are failing at the end of MP1, 2 or 3
Only 6% of Traditional student courses are failing at the end of MP1, 2, or 3
99.6% of BOCES students pass their programs 
Traditional students are only failing classes by the end of a marking period at a 6% rate
Between the end of MP 1 and MP2, over both years, the BOCES failing rate of at least 1 class climbs, in 2017-18 more than twice from 8% to 19%, and in 2018-19, with a 3% increase
If BOCES students are passing by the end of the year, I notice that, until they move into CAIR at the end of MP3, failing rates climb from marking period to marking period

What are the attendance rates at BOCES compared to their core classes at home schools (Do they come in late or leave early around their BOCES programs)?
What classes are they failing most?
What does BOCES curriculum do that can be used by core teachers?
What are the BOCES end of quarter GPAs?
Are these same (failing BOCES) students ever failing BOCES at the end of a MP?
Is there remediation at BOCES like the CAIR at MW for students who may fail?
What are the graduation rates of BOCES students vs. Traditional students?

Most of these kids already have jobs and realize that the core classes have nothing to do with their jobs
Interventions should happen at the end of the 1st MP because failing just gets worse as the year goes on
Can (senior) core classes change to practice what BOCES students will need in their careers?
What are other schools doing? If they don't have the same problem, what can we find out from them?
