The heat pumps extract heat absorbed from the sun by air, water or shallow ground and convert it into useful energy. a Solar panel works by allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a flow of electricity. Solar panels actually comprise many, smaller units called photovoltaic cells. This all adds up to an electric field at the junction between the silicon layers.
