Neil Alden Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930
He was born to a German and Scottish family.
Due to work they had to move to different states and from here his passion for flying developed.

After the war and college, Armstrong went to work for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1958.
Here, he became one of the best and bravest pilots at NASA's Flight Research Center (now Armstrong Flight Research Center).
His first flight occurred in 1966 aboard Gemini 8. During that event, he and his partner David Scott completed the first successful docking of two spacecraft in space.

After the successful Gemini 8 trip, Armstrong was selected for the Apollo program, the final push to the moon, and began training from there.
On July 20, 1969, Armstrong became the first human to walk on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission.
