My name is Hilda Anahi Lopez, I was born in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1998. I have been married to my husband Oscar García for 26 years, and we have three boys, ages 25, 18, and 11.

I always say that I did not choose this profession, but the profession chose me. Like any immigrant, I just wanted to work to have an income for my family. Thirteen years ago, a childcare center in the community where I lived needed staff. I first started as a volunteer and after two weeks I stayed to work. Since I arrived in this place and started living with the children, I realized that it was the perfect job, and I knew it was the profession I wanted to dedicate myself to. I am currently very happy because I recently obtained my Home Daycare license.

Beliefs Statement

Early childhood education is important because education is a right for all children. The first years of children's lives are the most extraordinary stage of growth and development and in this first educational stage of children is where the foundations for the future are formed. Early childhood teachers and providers have the responsibility to support their abilities and help them develop their social, cognitive, emotional, language, affective, and physical needs from birth.

From the birth of the child, parents and caregivers should observe and monitor the child's development and growth. The first year is decisive for the development of the child's brain. From birth, vision, hearing, and at one year language and later cognitive function. See and listen to children to discover how they are developing, and pay close attention to children's behaviors, interactions, and interests because the first years of life are fundamental for development and growth. The Washington State Early Development Guidelines is a resource for all who love, care for, and educate children that provides information to support and enhance children's development and learning. It is important to understand that Child development is individual and unique in each child.

They are also fun activities where they have experiences They can develop different skills such as fine motor, gross motor, mathematics, thinking activities, as well as empathy and compassion for animals. The curriculum is created based on the needs and abilities of the children. But it is also necessary to help children develop socially and by guiding behavior using role play to help them develop empathy and compassion. Empathy and compassion are skills that have helped me understand the children under my responsibility and that every educator should have.

A caregiver establishes a positive, responsive, and cooperative relationship with each child's family, encourages families to participate and supports the child's relationship with his or her family, communicates with families in their language or seeks strategies to communicate in their language, maintains open and trusting communication with parents. The exchange of information between family and program will help the child be successful. It is important that parents feel welcome and accepted from the first day in the program, and that they feel trust and respect for any culture.

“Create and maintain open relationships. friendly and cooperative and communicates events daily.” With my experience as an educator and family, I believe it is one of the keys to seeing better results in children. Because when the relationship between the program and the family is fractured, it is very difficult to help the child. We as educators have a very important part to contribute so that this communication with parents is respectful and trustworthy. Inviting them to conferences, to share in class, or informal meetings are good moments to strengthen the relationship.
