The main ideas of this chapter are that Nazi Germany has just invaded the sovereign nation, the Kingdom of Denmark.
Another idea is the propaganda papers that are flying about on the streets saying that France and Great Britain are going to invade Denmark, it also mentions that Winston Churchill is a warmonger.
The last main idea that I can infer is that, even though the Nazi's invaded Denmark life is going on as normal except there are many tool's and soldiers of the German armed forces on the streets.

For this question I have 3 predictions. The first one is that when Lisa’s father gets captured the Germans will raid they’re house and take Lisa, Stephan and their mother to the concentration camps. At the concentration camp they will be separated into different groups and from that they will be sent to different camps, but while on route I think that Lisa will be able to escape and join the resistance in Denmark, and eventually save her family from the concentration camps. My 2nd prediction is that Lisa will be able to escape from the clutches of the Germans and when she tries her heroic rescue she wont be able to save her father or mother because they were killed or they decided to stay behind to let the children escape, and my last theory is that while Lisa is fighting with the resistance she dies after killing a key general of the Nazi’s.

Main ideas

The main ideas for chapter 6 are that it’s Lisa’s 14th birthday and 2 years have passed since the nazi invasion in Denmark. The Nazi’s come into her father’s hospital and shoot a woman who is pregnant and her husband because they were supposedly harbouring fugitives, the fugitives being jewish people. They also shoot down 4 nurses who are helping in the procedure, also Stefan almost punches Erik in the face.

What is this author suggesting about war in this poem?

The author is suggesting in this poem that war is a pointless, useless and time wasting thing.
When the author says “had he and I met in some old we should have set us down to wet. Right
many a nipperkin” This translated to modern day English basically means that if he had met the
enemy soldier before the war in a bar they would have sat down together for a drink and have a
chat. This means that if they were not enemies and were in the same inn they would be friends
who casually drink together. Another reference to what the author is suggesting is that “ I shot
him dead because—Because he was my foe, Just so: my foe of course he was; That is clear
enough; although” this means that just because this person was his enemy he shot him down
dead no other reason, just because he was the opposing party. When the author writes “he
thought he’ll just off-handed”, it means that the opponent soldier may have listed for the army
just like this person for a paycheck and nothing else, no need for a cause just need of money.

Dear Abby,

I know of the hardships and the mental torment and torture you're going through. I don’t know how it feels and I must confess I don’t want to know how it feels but I know that you need help. I know that you need to cure the injured and help the helpless but these Germans are not worth saving so I have a suggestion that might benefit you. I know that you are treating Nazi’s and I don’t know how it feels and I don’t want to know but if I may i would like to suggest an alternative. Firstly before you read my suggestion I want you to know that I know of the ethical issue of what i’m suggesting and I know of the danger that you might be in if you were caught, but know this that if you don’t do what I suggest it could most certainly be the end of the world as you know it. I feel horrible that you are going through this and, since you have taken a hippocratic oath about doing no harm so my suggestion is that instead of treating the Nazi’s with real medicine’s wy don’t you use syringes of water and placebo medicines. I hope I have done the right thing . I don’t want to let you down and I don’t want you to keep going through this turmoil.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Daughter

Main Ideas

The main ideas for chapter 11 are that it is the first night of the jewish new year (Rosh hashanah) and the Rabbi is taking a “vacation” and hopes that the other jewish people take a vacation as it is not safe for jewish people to go to the synagogue, since somebody has tipped of to the Rabbi that the german soldiers will start gathering up people at the Synagogue and going into jewish households, to take them to the concentration camps. Lisa then makes it to Erik’s house and tell’s his mother that the nazi’s will start gathereing up the jewish people and that they need to flee, and Erik’s mother ask’s Lisa to go to his Grandparents house to warn him to leave. On the train Lisa meets a family who are Jewish and fakes being ill so that she can talk to the young lady of the family, in private so that she can tell her that Eichman and his goons will start rounding up all the jewish people.

Erik gets separated from Lisa’s family because he entered a different van so his escape route was different. A man who was with Lisa’s ambulance group kill’s his wife and 2 children because they decided that killing themselves was better than being captured by the Nazi’s and sent to the concentration camps. Everybody at the sea shore is directed to a house where they will rest in for the night until the trawler comes to pick them up. At that time Stefans tell’s Lisa that he is staying back to help the people who will come to this same rendezvous point to escape to sweden. Lisa agrees to help Stefan but she has to leave on the last trawler so that she can be safe with her mother, father and her baby sister Sarah in Sweden.

Main Ideas

The main ideas for both of these chapters combined are that most of the trawlers have left with people and there is one more left, the group goes to the house in the night and sleeps and wakes up the next morning and talk about stories of the time when they were doing missions in the city. Stefan then shows them the cyanide pill that he carries in case anything happens. They also discuss whether Stefan will board the trawler with Lisa. The next batch of people come and the group of three helps them board. After the trawler leaves a small rowboat comes back and Lisa gets on the rowboat with a few other people who are left and to Lisa’s surprise Stefan also boards the rowboat. When the party gets further in the sea the rowboat starts to sink under all the pressure and water starts filling in. In no time the whole rowboat is filled with water and the party of people have to swim. A ship in the vicinity see’s them and throws down lifesavers but Lisa realizes that Stefan still has the cyanide pill so when she comes near him he tells her that the pill dissolved before he could even take it. The group is pulled to the deck of the massive boat and the captain says to them “Welcome to Sweden”.

Lisa’s War Novel Review

By: Aditya Kaundinya

My review for this book is that it was decent but I won’t say that it was bad. These are my reasons for that. Firstly I’ve read a few war books and they all basically end in the same way. Such as the main character (Lisa) escapes Denmark with her brother while her “boyfriend” (Jesper) continues fighting for his country. To me this book was very cliche and that shows a lot because in chapter 5 Lisa has to deliver the real news on the streetcars and she vomits on 2 german soldiers. This is seen a lot in war books or fantasies where the main character gets in trouble, such as vomiting, blurting out things and getting trapped and they always get saved by either someone who cares for them or the public who are there. Overall this book is decent but I would change a few things in the book like more plot twists but otherwise this book was excellent.
