I prefer both listening materials in my coursebook and authentic materials such as short part of the film, songs, tv series and even cartoons, actually at first I use coursebook because ever student has got it, so it is reachable then I prepare authentic materials because students can hear different accent, new vocabularis. I try to find the materials which they are interested in or which they like, because sometimes the coursebook can be boring for them.

I think the ideas about developing more active listening skills in today's sessions would be appropriate and useful in my classroom, because I have at least 35 studens in my calsses and their levels aren't same, so I figured it out that I don't have to use the text directly I can rearrange the activites according to their levels. I can simplfy for the weaker ones or make it more challenging for the stronger ones.

The most common problem in our district is crowded classes, students lack of confidence, lack of English background therefore they don't want to speak, they think that they will make a mistake even if they make, they dont realize that making mistakes make them learn more, even they self correct, they learn more. How I can help them to speak?I think I can use authentic materials which are life based on or I can use chunks and to make them confident I make them role play on subject that they are interestes in. They can speak in a group, so stronger ones can support weaker ones.

In my PDCs There can be teachers who don't want to speak because they have prejudice that the other one can be better than him or her, but to encourge them to speak I can start with a simple warm up with "like dislike questions" I can draw a column on the board, I write 2 or 3 words on the left side of the column and using with these words they can ask me yes or no question like do you like volleyball, and then I make them group and they ask these kind of question with each other

1)Pre Reading I show photos of these three celebrities, I want students guess their job.

While Reading For the lower level students I would arrange True or False sentences or matching the pictures with sentences activity can be used. For the upper level students I would write 6 False sentences and they would them correct giving the reason and telling the True sentences.

Post Reading For lower level students making a film poster with these 3 celebrities and find an interesting name for the film. For the upper level students Writing a paragraph about

" If you were one of them, who would you be and what would you change about yourself and why? "

2) I think the common problem of my collegues in reading is that they focus on grammar even when they are making reading activity, so I would reccomend them to use short text to start grammar lesson but dont give all the rules about grammar subject just give short time for that, and they are lack of making diffirentiation

In my PDCs at the begining of the lesson for the teachers I would write 3 words on the board and I want them to speak about what is the relation between these words with our city, after hearing their ideas I give every group one city name and I give them time to write 3 words about it and discuss them with each other, after that They see a text about Istanbul on the board, I give this text as a hard copy to them and I want them to underline the grammar and get their ideas , And I get different type if reafing exercise activities for this text for different level of students, I ask them hiw can they adapt their class, for example they may give some vocabularies before but not all of them and just give clues about them or they show the grammatical sentence and they give just short information but not all the rules of course and after doing that they want their students to do the reading activities and they can rearrange activites accorsing to levels

I think the most effective grammar teaching suggestion is CCQ in my language classroom, because we can understand that If the topic was understood or not, they can answer the questions to show it,but before doing this I prefer teaching the grammar with GTM I mean as a teacher I control the practice activity to focus on the form, because we have limited time and mixed type of student, If all of my students were upper level, I would use CLA they would elicit the topic easily, but for the lower ones it isnt useful.

Fir my PDC Session I would start with " Give me 5" warm up activity I want them to write 5 personal adjectives about themselves and mingle in the class and to get know each other they would ask a question " what are you like"

And for my PDC Teachers I would use the activity finding new tip for teaching vocabulary because they are already using some tips so at first I make them group, I want them to write what type of tips they are using and make them disscuss with group members so this helps them to learn new type of tips to use in their class, by using these tips they make the students group and they teach one word with different type of tips for each group and then students and teacher discuss which one is useful for them, because some students can choose drawing, some choose realia or others choose giving example so it hepls the students know themselves better.

I consider the greatest benefit of being in a PDC for teachers of English im my local context is that they will share their ideas, their problems about teaching and they will see that they are not the only person who faces up with these kinds of problems and of course they will have opportunity to speak English because they cannot be lucky enough to have such kind of training

I have never been in PDC before so I am little bit worried about that but I am sure after I do mine and see my friends' I am going to feel relaxed, because I understood what are we going to do in our sessions but we should see it in practise, and we already learned of you that how much time we should give to our activities, or how can we prepare our lesson plan so these kind of things will help me as well.
