Eventually, the Irish Free State was granted as a commonwealth of Britain where all power was granted in the Dublin parliament. They still had a governor. However, 6 North Eastern counties became Northern Ireland, they remained in Britain and had a Unionist majority. Both states eventually grew and Ireland got full independence in the late 1930s and in 1998, after decades of direct rule from Westminster, Northern Ireland was regranted an Assembly, this time they had less authority then the previous Parliament of Northern Ireland.
