I liked that question from Liezel, I think that if Stella was less generous and sort of makes Blanche see the truth I think it’d be a bit harder on her but also beneficial and easier to handle because it will be coming from an individual she trusts.

It’s kinda of the concept of believing in something until you eventually convince yourself that those lies are true. She constantly lives in her illusions, so it makes sense that the line between reality and illusion would get blurred.

Like the question from Brooklyn M, I don’t think it’ll make a lot difference as well if Stanley was more generous to Blanche, she didn’t like him and he didn’t like her, it’d maybe help Blanche but not as much.

I liked Irish’s point. Blanche from the beginning did not like Stanley and she sees him as an animal. She did not show any gratitude towards Stanley and Stella’s generosity, due to lack of love, and loneliness. She hides her true emotions.

I feel like part of it has to do with Blanche being uncomfortable with the difference in status. Blanche wasnt prepared to go from living on the plantation to Stella and Stanley's small house

Blanche really tries to appear clean and pure, and that is the way to get generosity. She had a dramatic past where she was sleeping with other men. Due to loneliness she became completely broken, and she wants to keep an image of a clean and innocent girl when she meets Stella and Stanley.

I agree, like it was obvious Stella is in a abusive relationship but during those times yeah divorce was looked down upon and she has no money of her own and so she may not be able to take care of her child if she left.

I liked Ella’s idea about marriage during 1940’s. Stella would not be able to support herself in this world, and she understood that there is only way is to stay with Stanley. Blanche saw problem in sister’s marriage from the beginning when Stanley punched Stella during Scene 3. It illustrates that she cannot leave him and she would not leave him anyway. It illustrates that marriage during those times is the only way to keep stability and prosperity.

I Blanche was judgmental towards Stanley and saw him to be unfit for her sister. Blanche continuously disrespected Stanley in his house, while relying on him to rest up and get by.

Stella choice to be with her husband was more favourable to her than to take blanche’s side. As their had a baby together and Stella was financially incapable of supporting herself and her sister.

I agree that Blanche maybe tried to manipulate her sister against Stanley, since Blanche wants to escape from the truth and Stanley was trying to discover her lies. So Blanche won’t have peace if she is in the same place with Stanley
