Dear reader,

Within Wales st primary school you will notice that we are a very aboriginal friendly school, because we have many places around the school that are indigenous related like our yarning circle, our acknowledgements of country and our statue of bunjil.

Our yarning circle is used to have smoking ceremonies were we acknowledge

the indigenous Australians. Last year we had an indigenous person come to our school and teach us about all the aboriginal nature. He told us stories about when white people invaded and taught us about sorry day. Some classes came up with an acknowledgment of country that they put all around the school and decorated it with aboriginal art. At our school we also have a statue of a bird called bunjil which is a way to show respect to indigenous people.

At Wales street we are very open to people of any race or religion and we acknowledge aboriginal and indigenous people being the traditional owners of the land. I will show just some of the many ways we show our respects.
