Summary:
 Every year Mrs.Baker takes her class on a camping trip. Holling and his classmates are going on a camping trip because it’s the end of the year. Mrs. Baker hates camping but she goes on the camping trip because her husband, Lieutenant Baker loves camping. Lieutenant Baker couldn’t come on the camping trip because he was getting back from the war in Vietnam. After the camping trip, their whole class goes to Danny’s bar mizva and Lieutenant Baker finally comes home. Mrs. Baker is SOOOOO HAPPY!
Theme:
I think the theme of the book is perseverance because each character tries to preserve each of the challenges. For example, Mrs.Baker really wants Lieutenant Baker to come home and she perseveres through the hard time without him. Holling’s sister perserves through her dream of going to Columbia University.

Holling signed up for the shakepeer play but he doesn’t want everyone to see him in a fairy dress and costume because he thinks that they will laugh at him. Summery- In An elephant in the Garden Mutti saved Peters life by saying that he was Russian and dressing him in Elizabeth’s uncles clothes.
Theme- The theme of this book is keep trying even if it seems impossible to succeed. For example, on page 123 the cops come in to look for Peter so Mutti had to tell them that Peter was part of the family even though if they got caught they would die.
Thinkmark- My thinkmark is how do you think Peter felt on page 123. My answer is very scared because if I was in Peters situation I would be terrified.

The last thing that happened is Rose really wanted rain back so her and Uncle Weldon went to happy tails shelter were they are pretty sure Rain is located. When they got here it was rain! Rose was so happy but they found there was a microchip in rain and her real name was Olivia, and the real owners were the Hendersons. But they made a deal Rose could take rain back to her home but if they can get in touch with the Hendersons she has to give Rain to them. So Rose went back with rain. Then a friend of the hendersons called and aventually the hendersons were able to get Olivia back.

I think the theme is bravery because Rain showed lots of bravery during Hurricane Susan and after. Rose also showed lots of bravery doing the right thing to give Rain to her rightful owners.

One of my thinkmarks was my favorite part when Olivia was able to reunite back with the hendersons. It was such a happy part. Summery: Naomi is young girl who’s mother just came home after 7 years gone. Naomi and her brother never really knew their mother and she’s a little crazy. Naomi’s mother wants to take Naomi with her to Las Vegas and live with her and her husband. Naomi isn’t so happy about doing that. The only way to prevent Naomi from going, is to find her father in Mexico. Naomi’s mother and father are divorced. The father wanted to take care of the children but the mother didn’t let him and ended up abandoning the kids. Now, Naomi’s mother is forcing her to go with her unless they find the father. Skyla (mother) doesn’t know that everyone is in Mexico looking for the father. While their in Mexico Naomi is finding out all these things about her father, for example, she looks a lot like him. Naomi, Gram, and Owen are finding all these clues for finding the father but they only have a few days left.
Theme: A theme that I would give this book would be, to never give up even if you think everything will go wrong. I think that way because Naomi, Gram, Owen, and the others all don’t know if they are going to find the father in time. But Naomi won’t give up hope even when she knows things can go wrong. For instance, on page 200, the author wrote, “I don’t know how I would ever get along without you, but I’m more concerned with how you would get on without Owen and me.” “But it will not come to that,” “I said firmly. Let’s just plant that in our brains.” This shows that Naomi is not giving up hope.
Think mark Connection: Since this book is about a girl trying to find her father, it made me connect this book with a book I read called Inside Out and Back Again. It made me think of that book because the girl in that book was also trying to find her father. I think the theme is “People are not always who you think they are. They might have a different characteristic than you had expected!” I think this because at the beginning, Holling Hoodhood thought his teacher was probably really mean and that she hated his guts, but this turned out to be false at the end.
Summary:
Holling wanted to stop going to classes with Mrs. Baker when school is over. But he is not able to convince Mrs. Baker. So, he just does whatever Mrs. Baker tells him to do. Then, when she reached she was the happiest little girl.
 
Theme: I think the theme of this text is perversence because even though her dad didn’t cooperate she still didn’t give up. But if she did go and find her with someone it would probably Uncle Weldon because her dad doesn’t care.

Thinkmark: my thinkmark is I thought that her dad is mean because he doesn’t care about anything. But he seems pretty nice for one day and he he sounded liked he cared. Page 103

The theme of this book is to try something new and example of this theme is Holling thought that Shakespeare was boring but when he read it he loved it and because of that he is in a play.
One think mark is I think all of his friends are going to be at the play - page 85.

So, while they where going to a place it’s rated raining and Ally had to do something like pull a string to make the whispers opperate. Then, the next chapters talks about Ally going to Shay’s birthday party. She really liked it there because she discovered that she really liked butterflies because Shay’s birthday party was at butterfly garden. She thought that she hurt a butterfly and it wouldn’t fly because she touch the butterfly on the wings. The next thing she did when she saw Albert was to ask him if a butterfly could fly if touch it the wings. Ally was so relived that Albert said the butterfly could fly.
Theme:   I think a good theme for this book is 'try your best in hard times to success'. I think that would be a good theme because Ally really wanted to be good at reading, writing, and make more friends. But now she just has to become good at reading and writing because she already succeeded in making friends and is now working on the others.

Theme: I think the theme is people might not be what you think they are like
Summary: Holling’s class went on a camping field trip at the end of the year. But the thing is Mrs.Baker hates camping. The reason they went on a camping trip was because Mrs.Baker’s husband loves camping. When they got there Mrs.Sidman was talking to the kids about what you should be careful about in the woods and when she got to the part were she was talking about snakes everyone started paying attention. She said that there were poisonous snakes all around where they were. And she talked about what you should do and what would happen if you got bite by a poisonous snake and everyone got freaked out. One night on the camping trip it was raining. And Doug was being followed by alot of mosquitos and everyone ran away from him. But Doug didn’t realise until the mosquitoes went into his eyes. After the camping trip Mrs.Baker’s husband, Lieutenant Baker came out of a plane because he is in the military.   • The Wednesday Wars
  • Holling Hoodhood is at Camillo Junior High and is with Mrs.Baker practicing one of Shakespeare’s play. Holling is only practicing the curses. For example, he practices say “Toads, beetles, bats, light on you!” From The Tempest, the play that they are praticing. After finishing reading The Tempest he takes a quiz about it. Then, his friends forced something making Holling but some cream puffs for them, and it’s due around that time, and Holling does buy them the cream puffs. After eating the cream puffs together, Holling and Mrs.Baker start talking about the play again.
  • I think the theme is persevering through school, his friend, and his teacher. That is because school for him is very annoying and hard, then the friends because they were being pretty mean to Holling. Then, there’s the teachers, they are practically blaming him for everything.
  • I think Holling feels really guilty because it was his fault that the chalk got on the cream puffs and because the people who will eat it will probably choke. Page 33.

    The theme of this book is courage because running through a forest is hard enough if an army is after you, but the challenge the main character is facing, is that she has to take an elephant with her making it easier for the plains to find her.
    I am wondering, what is the ring of trust, the ring of fire, the ring of steel, and the ring of bells?
    A summery of this book is that there are 3 main characters in this book, the elephant (Marlene), Lizzie, and her brother Karl. 
    Also on the cover it looks like there are planes in the sky which is cool because the book is about them running away from the planes and the planes are right above there head so that means the planes are catching up and are starting to find them. Also isnt having elephants has pets illegal  in most states because they they have an elephant in there garden. Also do they have neighbors because would that not be a bit weird having a random elephant in there garden and the neighbors have not said a thing.

    Summary -  Holling HoodHood, his whole class, Mrs.Baker (Holling’s 7th grade teacher), and Mrs.Sidman (the principal) are going on a camping trip because it is the end of the year. Holling carries an old bag with all the utensils they need for the trip. When they reached the camping location they noticed that the bag on Holling’s bage fell apart on the way and dropped all the utensils. They were left with one spoon. This gave them a hard time having food on their hands but luckily Mrs.Bigio came after a night passed by and helped them with the food. 

    Theme -  I think the theme is “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. I think this because Holling always debated if Mrs.Baker likes h8s guts or not but turns out Mrs.Baker doesn’t hate Holling Andy they spend a lot of time together on Wednesday.

    Thinkmark(s) -  On page 264, Mrs.Baker seemed very happy when Mr.Baker came home.     Summary: When Skyla Naomi’s kind of crazy mother came back after 7 years Naomi’s life changed alot . Skyla wants to take Naomi with her to Las Vegas to live with her new husband and not Owen the brother since he is deformed. Naomi’s is not happy about this and when she tells Skyla she doesn’t want to go and Skyla slaps her. Naomi knows the only way for her not to go to Las Vegas with Skyla is by finding her dad in Mexico. Naomi’s parents go divorced a long time ago and her father really wanted to keep Naomi and Owen but her mother said no but instead of taking care of the children she abandoned them instead.     Summary: A summary of what I read recently would be that Holloing is reading Shakespeare and he likes to say the curses a lot and he really liked the book. But when he and Mrs. Baker finished, she gave him a 150 question test on the play “The Tempest”. He did pretty good on the test which helped him soon when he went to the bakery to buy his classmates creampuffs  even though he didn’t have enough money. The baker didn’t need him to do anything but he wanted a kid who knew Shakespeare which Holling did. He got the cream puffs but at school when the kids were coming back from lunch to eat them, Sycorax and Calibin who were vicious rats ate them all so Holling’s classmates gave him a week to get them back. Next week when he didn’t come with cream puffs, he lucked out becuase Mrs. Baker bought the class cream puffs and said Holling was joking with them. 

    Theme: I think the theme of this book is perseverance because even though things don’t go the way Holling wants them to, he doesn’t complain like when Mrs. Baker gave him the huge Shakespeare test or when she gave him so many chores to do no matter how gross. 

    Think mark: It seems to me that the play from Shakespeare is a lot like what’s happening in Holling’s life right now (page 54)

Skyla (Naomi and Owen's mother) has been running the house and telling everyone what to do and how to do it. Skyla told Naomi that they (Skyla and Naomi) were going to go to Las Vegas no matter what. But when Naomi says no, Skyla slaps her across the face but then says not to hold it against her. When her grandmother hears about this she tells them to hide in their neighbor's shed behind that  house and that she and the neighbors  will 'deal' with Skyla. Skyla goes to the neighbor's house, and when she doesn't find Naomi she says "I'll be back with Clive to pick up Naomi at noon on Saturday, and I expect her bags to be packed. If she's not ready, I'm going straight to the police. I'm not going to forget you making problems for me and Clive. Naomi doesn't belong to you. She belongs to me. She is my daughter."
    Theme:
    I think a good theme is in this book is perseverance because when Skyla says  she's going to be at lemon tree (the town they live in) on Saturday at Noon, the grandmother takes action and they head off to Mexico to escape the mother?
