Elkanah, Samuel's father, had 2 wives: Hannah and Peninnah. Hannah initially couldn't get pregnant, but Elkanah still loved her. Hannah sought the Lord and prayed in the house of God, met Eli the priest. Eventually Hannah got pregnant with Samuel and gave Samuel to God (and later had 3 other children).

God called on 8-year-old Samuel 3 times

Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, and the Lord called on him 3 times. However, Samuel thought it was Eli calling him. On the fourth time, he acknowledges that it was the voice of the Lord. He was told about what would happen to Eli's family and how Eli failed to restrain his sinful sons. He was scared to tell Eli the vision.

98-year-old Eli passes away

The Arc of God was captured by the Philistines and Eli fell hearing the news - he broke his neck and died. Later on the Arc of God was brought to the Obed-Edom.

Saul was chosen to be King

Judges like Elon and Abdon ruled over Israel, but the people did not want theocracy and demanded a King. Although God was not happy with the people of Israel's choice, Samuel the leading priest was told by the Lord to annoint Saul who was looking for his father's lost donkeys.

Saul failed to wait for Samuel and did not trust God's word

David was anointed by Samuel

Samuel died at age 90
