On this day, the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia and entered the capital Phnom Penh [Day One]. Because of that, the civilians were forced to leave their home to become the refugees and camped in the public places, such as temples, under the tree, or sandbars of the river [p. 106]. Haing had suffered the same thing as those refugees and he decided to live in Wat Kien Svay Krao [p.106].

On this day, Vietnamese troops invaded Cambodia and they defeated the Kampuchean Revolutionary Army in two weeks [Vietnam Invades Cambodia]. When the Vietnamese soldiers arrived in Cambodia, they asked Haing where Pol Pot was, but Haing did not have any idea about the meant of Pol Pot [p. 383]. The arrival of the Vietnamese army laid the foundation for the success of the overthrow of the Democratic Kampuchea regime.

On this day, the Democratic Kampuchea regime was fully overthrew by the Vietnamese army [Liberation]. The Age of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge officially ended. After that day, Haing and his family group started to walk toward Thai border to get rid of Cambodia [p. 371]. Because this country was the black shadow for Haing due to most of his family members, parents, brother Pheng, Huoy, and Ma, were died from the cruel regime under the Khmer Rouge.

On this day, Pol Pot died at 72 years old from the heart failure when he was sleeping [Death of Pol Pot]. The death of Pol Pot brought the justice for those people who died under his regime. For example, even if Huoy was not directly killed by Pol Pot, she was died from his cruel regime. Under this regime, the intellectuals would be killed, so Haing felt helpless and did nothing when Huoy was suffering the pain from delivering the baby [p. 355].

On this day, Pol Pot Changed the name of Cambodia to Kampuchea [Renamed]. Under the Democratic Kampuchea, the Khmer Rouge advocated that everyone was equal to each other and there's no rich or poor under its regime [p.100]. Based on that, the city civilians were forced to go to the countryside to farming. The Cambodian society started to walk toward a poor and primitive society.

On this day, the last Khmer Rouge guerrillas surrendered on this day. The picture shows that they were wearing the new uniforms of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in the integration ceremony [Surrendered]. At this point, we can conclude that the Cambodian genocide was completely over and the Cambodian civilians had started to return to the normal life. The book mentioned that Haing felt excited to buy the Pepsi-Cola [p.410]. This revels that the civilians' life under the Khmer Rouge regime was tough, so they felt glad when they were able to buy the food that they wanted again.
