Go to Reports, click an individual student, then as you scroll down past their pie chart that shows their percentage, keep scrolling, and by day, at the bottom of the day, there is a text box that allows a teacher to leave comments for parents there. It will then show on that individual parent's account and you will of course have those records archived for you too.

We have installed an interactive projector that allows mobile devices (both iDevices and Android) to connect to the projector (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Landing/ProjectorApp.do?iref=van_projector-app). So in a BYOD environment students can project from their device to the projector without having to come up to the front of the room and copy files to the teacher's computer.

I completely understand what Mrs. Thayer was saying about kids being "lazy" with their reading, and I'm also seeing kids getting "lazy" with their technology too. For example, our school newspaper is online through Weebly, and it has a mobile site, but not an app. I've had students tell me that it takes too much time to use their browser to navigate to the mobile site, so they probably won't read the newspaper unless it has an app.

In Wayne County, I am a second grade teacher. I use a lot of QR codes in my classroom and I create a lot of activities I use in my instruction which I sometimes post on TPT. I love working on those items. My students get excited about anything using technology and QR codes are just still an amazement to them. I have dabbled with Augmented Reality and created a Writing lesson with that. Had an issue with trigger images once they were printed. They worked perfectly before but the print quality diminished the images...sad about that.

In 4th grade science, students were assigned an animal. They wrote a short paper about their animal. Students partnered with another student and recorded each other with an iPad reading their paper. Students selected an appropriate picture of their animal and used the Aurasma app to create public auras. They made a poster of their animal which included the picture they selected to initiate their aura. Each student was able to use the Aurasma app to view each other's auras.

Have enjoyed some success working w/ podcasting with both STLP students and with 6th grade ELA. Have used both Croak.it and AudioBoo apps w/ iPads. Students have taken podcast url to make QR Codes for easy sharing.

Biggest challenge continues to be finding out what's going on in the classroom so that I can offer suggestions and services for tech integration that doesn't feel like an "add-on" for teachers. BTW... what's your favorite ePublishing apps for PC or iPad?

I wish someone would come out with a comprehensive comparison chart kind of like Brian Sweasey did but getting more into what they do in the classroom and not so much the specs of the devices, though that matters just as much. We redid our training lab this year. We didn't install an interactive board, instead we painted the wall with whiteboard paint and installed an interactive projector. This change gives a larger view than the typical interactive board plus allows for teacher/students to use regular whiteboard markers outside the projection area. This particular projector allows for tablets (Android and iPad) to connect wirelessly from anywhere in the room, as well as from any computer in the room. Thus, students can project their work from their devices in their seats.

Success: My students love the XBOX 360 I received from Tony. 4th and 5th grade students are using perimeter formulas in Minecraft. 2nd and 3rd grade students are playing sports games and learning PE skills.

Challenge: Not enough time to fully explore everything "technological" out there. I need to spend a lot of time learning new apps and technology so I feel comfortable sharing it with my students.

My 3rd graders are learning how to email by sending me a story starter. I read it, add a line or two and send it back to them, to which they then forward it to the person sitting on their right. Multiple stories start making their way around the room and it's fun writing!

My 4th graders researched an endangered animal according to my rubric and then they used their graphic organizer and rubric to make a Power Point about their animal. The last part of the project is where they created and drug a background image into photo booth and created a commercial plea to their audience to save their animal. When they were finished, they inserted the video into their power points and shared out their Power Points on their OnrDrives

Is a site that a reading/writing teacher found and she headed a school wide writing project at my school. I assisted through the lab on how to type a story on MS Word. Students created illustrations and I assisted them in printing the stories/illustrations out and she mailed them off two days ago. In a month, our students will be receiving their very own hardback book of their story for free!

Of course parents are welcome to purchase extras if they want, but the first book is free!

I participated in the Book Mob Webinar related to the book Mapping to the Core by Heidi Hayes Jacobs. Participants were able to interact with the author by submitting questions. The author shared some beneficial websites through the curriculum21.com clearinghouse.

In February, I did a "Blind Date With A Book" contest to get students interested in reading. I took great but rarely checked out books, wrapped them up, wrote a few phrases on the front to describe them, and put them on display. Students checked them out "blind" and filled out a "Rate Your Date" form. When they returned the form, I filmed them giving a video review of the book, and I am in the process of posting the review next to the book covers and attaching the video review to the book covers using Aurasma. The kids are really excited about it, and I am too. Hopefully kids will watch other students' reviews of these great books and will be encouraged to read.
