2.  What I learned on architecture after the module
I learned how architecture is a combination of various elements to form a certain structure. Its form usually follows the function it is used for and that this certain function have changed throughout the decades. From the spiritual use of it during the Greco-Roman period, it is now being used for practical purposes where humans live and survive. It also now allows the structure to interact with its surroundings as it makes use of the natural lighting and image it provides.

3.  What else I'd like to learn about architecture
I would like to learn more about the local architecture of the Philippines. I think that if we discussed this I would have appreciated and related more to the topic because I can easily apply it on my surroundings. Discussing the various influences we received throughout the centuries and how the various cultures and countries that were integrated in our society shaped the current Philippine architecture we know of today would have helped a lot in my understanding of the topic.

Made out of marble, the details in the sculpture are exceptionally made especially considering the rigid nature of its material. Various details were carved meticulously as seen in the drapes of Mary’s clothes. It can also be observed how Christ’s figure is smaller than that of His mother. This unbalance further adds to the misery depicted as it adds tension and emotion to the sculpture, making the viewer focus on Mary’s sadness.

Beauty is seen in the Pietà as it shows how fitting each element are to each other that it creates a sculpture able to portray the sorrow a mother feels as she holds her dead son in despair. Regardless of one’s religious affiliation, the sculpture is able to portray deep feelings that can bring one to tears.
