The opening of the extract is written in the past tense, showing that this is a clear reflection of events. this can also produce a sense of dramatic irony as the reader knows that climber is likely to survive, as she is reflecting on the moment. This can be seen at the beginning of the sixth paragraph. We move out of the past tense, to a comment by the author. Almost like a interview, where they are asked to say what they were feeling whilst watching the event. Is there an actual name for this?

1. The use of short sentences to build up description of the old city is very critical of the Israelis. This is similar to the second paragraph because listing and emotive language is used to build up description of the rights lost after the fall of communism.
2. the use of first person quotations gives a more accurate insight into Palestinian premonitions. the Use of ascetic listing creates a sense of the spontaneous almost live a steam of conciseness-this builds up her opinion on her rights. freedom is also repeated.
3. The use of the context about the situation highlights the negativity of the Israeli campaign which is supported by the view of the driver. Similar to the comment about the death of communism as it is very critical about the fall of it and the effects it had on women. Do all of these points make sense?
