1.) Do you think that you fit the typical stereotype of the theater kid?

Not really. Theater kids re usually depicted as energetic and edgy. I dont see myslef fitting into that strearotype. I sorta keep to myself and I'm a pretty quiet person in general. I'm not too outgoing like the other kids.

2.) What about this culture intrigued you?

I've been in musicals when I was younger, but I never had a passion for it until I got into high school and I met the people who do theater. If it wasn't for the people in theater I wouldn't be doing theater.

3.) Is there any other culture here that interests you?

I'm also invlolved in Speech and Jazz band. I found some similarties between these and theater. Thats what made me want to do speech and jazz band. All of these are performance based. A lot of people who do theater are also in speech and jazz band, also all three of these have a little bit of competiveness

4.) What is so special about theater culture?

The traditions we have really make it special for everyone involved. We have a lot of pre-show warm ups that we get everyone into.

5.) What are the people like in theater culture?

Very nice, open, outgoing, accepting, and positive

6.) Is there anything you’d like to change about this culture?

Some people can be overdramatic. Some can calm down

7.) Is the theater culture in this school different compared to other theater cultures in other school?
Chaska High has more emphasis on family and traditions where as other high school don’t have very many traditions as us. We have an endless amount of traditions that we do. My favorite one is called the mock. Some people pitch in and make a video jokingly poking fun of the cast and crew.

8.) Is theater culture more like a family or a business?

Definitely a family. The people are just so kind and accepting. Everyone is welcome in theater.

9.) Are you ever judged for being in this culture

All the time. My brother likes to poke fun at me for being in theater.

10.) What culture would you be in if you weren't in theater culture

Probably just be speech or like band because those are my passions as well

I have never really ever known anything about theater culture until I conducted that interview. Everone involved in theater here in Chaska High School is a family. They all care for each person and they have fun going to rehearsals and spending time with each other. This is why The theater culture is more like a family than a business. Everyone wants to show up and get involved. No one feels like they have to. The theater culture here at Chaska High is definitely a very special culture filled with love and friendship.
