         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mary McLeod Bethune was a black activist, administrator, ad educator. In 1904, Bethune opened one of the first schools for African American girls, Daytona Educational and Industrials Training School, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Upon opening the school, there were five girls who attended as students. She charges $0.50 a week for tuition. She never turned a student away who could not be able to pay. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>President JKF's June 11, 1963 nationally televised address on race relations, he declared civil rights a "moral issue" for the United States and promised a bill with "the  kind of equality and treatment we would want for ourselves." Later on in June of 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law, which outlawed major forms of discrimination on the basis of race. ethnicity, gender, national origin and religion. </div>]]></description>
