GALOP have some fantastic fact sheets, we are also in the process of working with them and Professor Catherine Donovan (University of Durham) to create a guide for friends and family to help both survivors and perps at this time; so keep an eye out. Over the next couple of months they are also releasing a live chat service, and a LGBT+ Survivors Forum, which will be excellent. They also have helpline support for LGBT+ Hate Crime, and Sexual Violence

UPDATE RE. LOCAL SERVICES FROM COUNCIL:

Veritas - No face to face, working remotely and via phone. Referrals- continued to increase this month. On-line chat should be available in the next 2 weeks. Cancellations in court hearings are causing issues for clients and resulting in an increase in cyber activity. Prioritising use of Stalking Protection Orders. Issues with funds for house moves in this period.

Children services - Operating remotely, FDFF is still staffed with a manger and social worker. Lavender street office is also open for funds and provisions to be distributed- not for duty work. Using Skype, Zoom and WhatsApp. Most staff are working and not many are off sick. Children have been RAG rated to identify those children most at risk. Visiting arrangements in place for those children most at risk. Only physical home visits when absolutely essential and with a risk assessment re:COVID. Doing visits via skype and looking around the property. Have been working with education to keep most vulnerable children I school/nursery.

Main concerns are the risks in the home due to the isolation, lack of oversight of perpetrators who may be back in the home and services unaware. Working with Police closely in relation to incidents. CP conferences are still happening virtually and sometimes happening in separate conversations rather than a large virtual meeting. Group work- all closed. Living proof and chance to change (victim and perpetrator) but still in contact with all those people but mainly to check in and offering holding support. Trying to consider how the lead practitioners can support the wider Social Worker teams currently.

ASC - Working virtually mainly. Some offices still open and some home visits are still happening when essential. Safeguarding duties remain the same. Referrals routes are the same via allocated worker or access team. Still dialling in MARAC weekly. Some additional beds are trying to be sought and this may include DA cases.

SPFT - Community services- enhanced duty system in place and dealing with crisis when they are presenting. Weekly bulletins being put together for staff on services available and encouraging professional curiosity. Newsletter coming up focusing on DA. No change in referral processes.

CCG - Working remotely, staff are not being redeployed from safeguarding as seen as critical service. Interested in the issue about RISE seeing reduction in referrals to HIDVA. Gill not sure if B&H have seen an increase or if this is across other areas. Will find out and remind staff about referral routes and importance of DA at this time.

Police - Triage of DA cases via the contact centre- they ask about Corovirus risks alongside the DASH for DA cases. People are still being arrested and proceed into custody as required. The Resolution team (Low risk and non crime DA) has just gone live- different response and follow up. Marie Laine is a good SIU link in that time. Proactive use of DVDS and new ways of working. Group member requested more information on this change.
