One of Eddie's character traits is that he is kind. While talking to Dom, Eddie learns that Dom is taking his wife to Mexico to visit some family. After learning of this, Eddie pulls out some money from his pocket and gives it to Dom, who initially refuses to take the money, but Eddie insists and places the money in Dom's hand.

Eddie in this book is being portrayed as a kind and sweet old man who is tired, but still tries his best for his job and others. He wants what's best for other people and even in his old age he will still pull through for his friends and family and even for complete strangers.

I find this line very suspenseful. It gives the reader a reason to want to keep reading to find out who this mysterious man is and how he knows Eddie. This is a very impactful scene because this man is the first person Eddie meets in Heaven and that's important because the man obviously knows Eddie and probably has something important to say.

Since this man is the first person Eddie talks to in Heaven it obviously is very important and the man probably has some important things he wants to say to Eddie.

This scene is very important in the book because it leaves the reader with questions as to why and how Eddie killed the Blue Man. I think it's an important scene that ties off the ending to that chapter and it can help the reader understand that sometimes people are connected in good ways and bad ways.

Eddie obviously doesn't know who this man is, so with the man claiming that Eddie killed him is a big step back to what is going on in this situation. Eddie is now going to question himself and think back on his life to see if he really did cause the Blue Man's death.

This scene has an important meaning because the Blue Man is teaching Eddie his first lesson, that everyone is connected in some way. Eddie didn't know the Blue Man, but Eddie ended up being the reason for the Blue Man's death. They were connected without even knowing each other.

That is an important and interesting point in this book and it keeps the reader curious about what could happen next. Now the reader will understand that Eddie was the accidental cause of the Blue Man's death and that he died instead of Eddie. A life for a life.

This scene of getting the Justice that Rabozzo deserved was a very important and impactful scene. Smitty saying "for Rabozzo'' says something meaningful to the reader because it shows how these men fight for each other and stick with each other like a family. The Captain always said that "no one gets left behind" and even though Rabozzo died, he was served the Justice he deserved. He was still remembered and will always continue to be remembered by the other men that were trapped with him in the enemy base.

This scene was important for this part of the book because right away finding out that Eddie was shot, we didn't get who shot him. It then came later that the Captain shot Eddie which will probably be a very big surprise for anyone who reads the book. Following learning that Eddie was shot, the Captain explained to Eddie that it was the only way to keep him alive. Eddie ran into that burning building and the only way to stop him was to shoot him so he couldn't walk in the flames anymore.

This part of the book is very important because all the Captain wanted was forgiveness about shooting Eddie. The Captain wasn't angry about his death, he was calm and he felt free. He wanted to be forgiven by Eddie before he moved on and that's one of the reasons he waited. With Eddie forgiving him, the Captain could now move on to be more free than he already was. He can be at peace knowing that he was forgiven.

He was still worried and concerned for the little girl. He still wanted to make sure that she lived and it may be because he wanted to make sure his death wasn't in vain, but I honestly think it's because Eddie has actual concern and worry for that little girl and I think that says alot about Eddie's character and about who he is and how kind he is.

When Eddie first arrived in his third Heaven, he saw his dad and I thought at first that his dad was his tired person. My initial reaction was "oh no" because as we learned so far in the previous chapters, Eddie doesn't have the best relationship with his father. His father was a cruel man that would constantly yell and hit Eddie and his brother. I was very surprised to see that his dad was going to be Eddie's third person, but we later find out that his dad isn't Eddie's first person, he's just his third lesson. Eddie's dad was always cruel to Eddie and I would think that if he was the person to give Eddie his third lesson, it would be something harsh and not as informative and respectful as the others.

In this scene in the book, Eddie's dad saves Mickey's life, he was a hero, but also a victim. Eddie's dad wanted to kill Mickey at first because he found Mickey trying to hurt his wife, but instead of killing Mickey, he saved him from drowning, but that save came with a cost. It was cold that night and due to being wet and it being cold, Eddie's dad got pneumonia and passed away. He died to save Mickey, even though Mickey was trying to hurt his wife. I think that shows that even under all the alcohol and abuse he gave towards his children, Eddie's dad was actually a nice and genuine person some of the time.

Loyalty isn't necessarily the big lesson that Ruby was trying to teach Eddie, but it was an important one. Eddie wondered why his dad saved Mickey and after everything Mickey did to his mom, but it was because of loyalty. Eddie's dad and Mickey were friends for years, they were there for each other through a lot. Mickey felt very guilty after Eddie's dads death, he felt it was his fault. Mickey got drunk and did what he did, but Eddie's dad didn't kill him for it, he wanted to, but he didn't. Eddie's dad was too loyal and friendly with Mickey to hurt him in such a bad way, he was loyal to his friend and wanted to keep it that way. Eddie's dad probably also knew that killing him would hurt more than help the family.

It was hard for Eddie to forgive his dad after all the abuse he endured over the years. Eddie overcame all his emotions and "fixed" the relationship with his dad and himself. It was definitely difficult for Eddie, but it had to be done. If Eddie wanted to move on, he needed to forgive his dad and understand that he truly was not the bad person Eddie thought he was. He died for doing something good in a horrible situation and Eddie always assumed it was something else, but now with the understanding of everything, I believe Eddie had it a little easier with forgiving his dad.

This is one of the most important and impactful scenes of the entire book because Eddie had finally found his Marguerite. Eddie has waited all this time to find his love again. After Marguerite died, Eddie broke, his heart was filled with pain, he loved her so much. I think Eddie seeing Marguerite and reuniting with her is going to help him change. All the stress and sadness he carried with him from over the years since her death, were now gone. She took away his pain and suffering and exchanged it with love and peace. Marguerite helped Eddie see that he still had love and happiness in him.

Eddie lost all his love when Marguerite died, but in Heaven, she shows him that he still has the love in his heart and that he needs to embrace it and let go of all the pain and suffering he had collected over the years.

All of Eddie's love died out a long time ago, but Marguerite let her love in and healed the whole that Eddie had in his heart.

Is the girl the shadow figure from the war? That is honestly the first thing that popped into my head while reading that scene in class. I had a feeling that the shadow figure mentioned earlier in the book would come back eventually. It's so sad now knowing that the person that died in that fire was a little girl and the way she tells Eddie is heartbreaking. She's just this little girl and she died because of Eddie and I know that Eddie feels so guilty that he burnt down the house, but also knowing that Eddie went into the burning house to see who was in their to save them, makes the situation seem a little better because Eddie was trying to do the right thing in the end. It's just a horrible situation that got out of hand and it had a bad output at the end of it.
