In Animal Farm, the story takes place on a farm in the countryside of England. Interestingly, animals can interact and talk with humans, making the relationship more complex than just human subjugation. At the beginning of the story, the animals are inspired to rebel against their corrupt farmer, Mr. Jones, with the pigs helping to establish preparations for the farm. This rebellion that is talked about comes quicker than expected, leading to a new farm controlled by animals and renamed to Animal Farm. Every animal propers and has a say in what happens on the farm at the start of farm life. However, the pigs on the farm, mainly the leader pig named Napoleon, continue to take more power and resources for themselves. They demand absolute control of the farm and break almost every rule established in the doctrine of Animalism, including the executions of certain animals. This culminates at the end of the book with the pigs taking control of everything on the farm and establishing a hierarchy based on species. This book is also highly ironic due to the progression of the pigs. When the rebellion occurred, the animals all wanted equality and separate identities from humanity. However, these pigs at the end of the book are more like human masters than Mr. Jones ever was.

Throughout Animal Farm, the control expressed in this novel takes an interesting role in the overall plot. At the start of the book, the control is very loose, but stated enough to give a reason for the revolt. After this revolt, we begin to see this theme of control really take place within the society on Animal Farm. This control is at first very lax, with the animals having some degree of choice and representation on the farm. However, as time passes by, this control begins to take stronger possession as the pig forms a hierarchy based on species. Once this hierarchy is built, it is too late for the rest of the animals. They essentially become slaves, with the pigs becoming the masters almost identical to the humans they revolted from in the first place.

In fact, society suppresses creative thinking so much that firefighters are now commissioned to start fires rather than put them out. One such firefighter, Guy Montag, begins to view society differently after his encounters with a book lover named Clarisse. This sparks Montag's passion for self-thought, leading him to hoard books, meet other rebellious readers, and leave society altogether. The book ends with Guy finding a new group of intellectuals who memorize the books to fix the society around them.

Throughout the movies, they differ drastically from the book. In these movies, the animals at the end stage a rebellion against the pigs and save themselves, while the book shows total defeat. Some minimal details also include Old Major's death and the time frame of it. Some characters' personalities are also altered, particularly Benjamin the donkey and Napoleon. Napoleon starts as a benevolent pig, but goes into a regressive stage throughout the movie. Meanwhile, Benjamin takes a more active role in the plot and helps to rebel against the pigs at the end of the movie.

This verse is describing truths that are seen throughout both books. The cause of one person led to multiple problems for the greater society. It continued to spread thorugh each person, with everyone being equally responisble for the dystopian societies created.

The main thing that I learned from both Animal Farm and Fahrenheit 451 is the nature that society takes up. Once sin entered the world, humanity quickly spiraled downward due to selfish ambition. In Fahrenheit 451, this theme is portrayed through the society in which they live. No one wants to have their personal thoughts proven wrong, so the knowledge that they could also access is dumbed down and suppressed. This leads to a hollow, shallow society where no one shows true love or relationships towards others. This can be seen in our world today and should be taken as a problem. In Animal Farm, power over something as small as a farm is seen as so important by the local animals that it consumes some of them. That few impacts the many and leads to complete subjugation. This can be seen through the event that inspired Animal Farm, the Russian Revolution, where one person imposed their cold will on others.

This meme expresses the windmill throughout the novel. It is seen as bad in the beginning, being the reason for expelling Snowball from Animal Farm. Very suddenly, Napoleon claims the windmill was his idea and blames Snowball for stealing the windmill. Once this is established, the windmill starts to be built by the other animals, which is good for the people. After this, the windmill gets blown over, Snowball and his associates being the cause of the destruction. Despite this, the animals quickly rebuild the windmill in brutal conditions, leaving a proud symbol on the farm. However, this does not last long, as the farmers make a second invasion where the windmill is blown up. This is a sign in the book that the windmill is not meant to be, but Napoleon does not give up and rebuilds the windmill over a long two years.

I chose another movie to compare to Animal Farm. The movie I chose was The Truman Show. While it may seem like this 1998 film does not share any connection to George Orwell's classic novel, they both have a lot more in common than can be seen on the surface. One of the main similarities between this movie and the book is the control that is present. In Animal Farm, the pigs share most of the control amongst themselves and use propaganda to control the rest of the animals on the farm. In The Truman Show, the producers use repetitive propaganda to force Truman to believe the false reality that they live in. In fact, the false reality that Truman lives in can also be seen in Animal Farm. When the Rebellion occurs, the animals believe that the utopian society they will live in can be achieved. However, the powers above them quickly take control of their freedom and make such a society impossible.
