I like this book and I would recommend it to a friend because this book isn't too long and it doesn't have that much text and mostly pictures. This book is like a long comic. My goal for this weekend is to read at least 50 pages everyday. This will happen when I am not busy and I have nothing to do.

I am reading The Poet X written by Elizabeth Acevedo. This book is about a 16 year old girl named Xiomara who feels as if she doesn't have a voice in her household, so tries to write poetry as a way write down her feelings. Currently, I am on the part where Xiomara explains on how she always has to help her mother around the house, but her brother, Xavier, doesn't have to, and is still her mother's favorite. I would recommend this book to a friend because it's a very interesting and almost relatable book - going through the struggles of a teenage girl and trying to juggle life at home and at school. The Poet X is truly a good book.

I am reading the last book of the Eden series by Joey Graceffa. The book and the series is about a girl, named Rowan, who is considered an illegal second child in a virtual "paradise" called Eden. Second children are illegal because in Rowan's generation, Earth is dead and in Eden the population "needs to be controlled". Soon, her curiosity gets the best of her and she decides, one day, to escape her "prison" (her home because she isn't allowed to leave the premises of her house) and goes out to explore Eden. This one action takes her on a journey to discover a new world and decipher reality from illusions. This book is very intriguing and I love it a lot. I totally recommend this book to anyone because this series is truly a story that must be read! I am up to the part where Rowan and her group of friends go to a party at Oaks (the most elite school in Eden) to execute their plan to get to the Chambers in the Temple.

The book i'm reading is "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas. The main character is Starr Carter who lives a double life. Nothing serious, she just lives in a poor neighborhood and attends a fancy prep school. She then witnesses the shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil. While Starr has the power to tell the truth of what happened, she also has the power to destroy her community and endanger her life. How much I read depends on my motivation to read and the amount of time I have. I almost never read anything less than 10 pages and at times even read 30 pages! I don't have a specific date in which I plan to finish the book. There are 473 pages in total and i'm only on page 83! The most pages i've ever read I think are 300, this is almost 500! I want to finish the book however so while I will get there eventually, I don't know when "there" is. The image below is of Starr in her school uniform and she is standing inside the building while the students are in the background:

The story explains his growth from a boy when he wasn't even supposed to exist, how he got to where he is, and the hardships he faced. Though he is very successful today, he had to get there the hard way. I am trying to start reading this book everyday and start making progress on it. I will try to read 10-20 pages a day.

I am reading "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas. In pages 93 to 83, Khalid's mother, (Khalil was the friend who was shot) stops at the hospital while Starr is giving her mother food (her mother works at the hospital) and cries over Khalid's death. Seeing this, Starr doesn't believe she has the right to cry since she was never really there for Khalil. Her mom, reminds her that Mrs. Brenda is still Khalil's mother no matter what. I am up to the part where Starr and her mother arrive at the police station so Starr can be interviewed on what happened from her point of view. One goal that I intend to accomplish is to finish reading the book. I don't think I have ever read an almost 500 paged book, but I am up for a challenge. I believe by reading all the pages, it will advance my reading level so soon i'll be able to read to 600 pages and so on.

I am on page 110 and currently, Sophie and Agatha are back at the School for Good and Evil, except now it is the School for Girls and Boys. The school changed because after Agatha decided to be with Sophie (end of book 1) instead of her prince, princesses felt that they didn't need boys, so they are independent now.
---------------------------------------------------
Now I am on page 221 and a lot has happened. Basically, Agatha went to the boys castle and tried to eliminate Sophie from the school by kissing Tedros, her prince, but Sophie was there the whole time. She cast a spell between them to make it look like Tedros has spelled her so that Sophie could stay at the school.
---------------------------------------------------
I have advanced to page 244 and not a lot has happened.

Something very coincidental was that a couple weeks ago we had to write about a women in class comments, and Ellen is that same woman that I did for that.
UPDATE: Ok so I have read up to page 61
FINAL UPDATE: I ended up returning my book to the library because I didn't find it necessary to keep on reading the book if I wasn't really enjoying it in the first place. I ended up getting a new book called Stolen and so far I am really enjoying it. The last time that I've enjoyed a book like this was when I was reading The Impossible Knife of Memory. Within those pages, I have learned that Raspberry and her mom have lived in a junkyard, slept in old beat-up vans, lived with friends and family, lived outside, washed up in gas stations and fast-food restaurants, and now it seems that they are living in a poor neighborhood. Since she and her mom have always been poor, it seems that her desire to live a better life has driven her to become what her friends call "money hungry".

Today I read the sun and her flowers by rupi kaur. the part I am up to currently is about her family, and she briefly describes that her mother would be happier if she had no children. The specific page I am up to is 140. The section I'm up to is alright, but the other sections I've read are better in one way or another. I believe there isn't as emotion in these sections, even though it's about family. It's mostly one-liners that fill up a page, but it's still good, nonetheless.

Within those pages, it seems that Margaret and Ada have developed somewhat of a friendship while Ada was helping her. They seemed to have bonded over their mother's favoritism for their brothers. Also, in addition to gaining a friendship, Ada also seems to have gained experience from taking Margaret back home with her horse. I really liked this chapter because this is the happiest Ada has ever been.

I am reading a fiction book called "The War That Saved My Life" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. So far in the story, Ada, Jamie and Miss Smith went to watch a movie. On the screen, it described the war and that seemed to have scared Ada because she ended up having nightmares. Also, Lady Thorton had come over for tea and had encouraged Miss Smith to join the Women's Volunteer Service (WVS). Miss Smith refused a couple of times but decided to participate after all when Ada claimed she didn't have a proper job and that she doesn't care about things. After Miss Smith put on her WVS uniform and left, the chapter ended off with Ada breaking her sewing machine. As for my thoughts on this chapter, I do wish that Ada would be more careful with her words because when she said Miss Smith didn't have a proper job and that she didn't care, the author describes Miss Smith's reaction as if she had been slapped in the face. It was pretty obvious her words hurt. I don't entirely blame Ada however because she didn't have a good upbringing by her mother who neglected and abused her. Still, I just wish that she would choose her words carefully. Also, I hope that like Ada, Miss Smith is able to make some new friends at WVS so that way, she'll be less lonely.

Miss Smith however, someone who didn't want them at first, is now fighting for them and refusing to send them back. I read up to the part where the first air raid began and they were now running to the Anderson Shelter and Ada was having trouble moving fast with her crutches while Miss Smith waited for her. As for what I thought of this chapter, I believe this is Miss Smith's character development. She went from being opposed to taking care of the children to fighting for them to stay. This change in Miss Smith's character gives me hope that one day, she, Ada and Jamie will be a family.

I read about 16 pages and I read how Latin music wasn't introduced to everyone around the early 1900s in the United States. Later, a Latino singer Ricky Martin came out with a song "Livin' la Vida Loca" and it started introducing Latin Music in the U.S. that was loved by all. A few years after, a young women named Selena Quintanilla- Perez started making music in english, therefore the people of America would be more interested in it. Sadly after her death, many were shocked that such a successful young Latin artist had died. Many would say she had "kicked the door open".

I have just finished reading my book. This book was very helpful about learning about her life and how she contributed to her community. She was a very important woman and she helped bring soldiers from the war back to health. She did all she could to make everyone have a good life. The way that she did things was very inspiring because she always found a solution and she always wanted to help other people out like people that didn't have any materials at home to take care of themselves, she would make organizations like the Red Cross to help them benefit from them by giving back to the homeless and the people that were injured and were in need of materials and items for themselves and their kids.

I am reading "The War that Saved my Life" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. So far, Ada was been able to catch a German spy and was praised about it for a while. I then ended up reading up to the part where Ada comes back to the house and there waiting for her, is her mother. I was really shocked to see her mom back since she had not bothered to reply back to their letters. I hope she isn't here to take them back home and if she is, I hope Miss Smith fights for Ada and Jamie.
