Recycling project - September 2021 s1unickozdenka https://padlet.com/s1unickozdenka/bg5pohyaz9v5cw1p/wish/2315057242 In September we were invited to a recycling project as in the previous year. The topic was this time legends. We made projects of already used items. We were working on it in language lessons and in art lessons the whole september. First step was translating chosen stories into three languages (English, Czech, German). Next, we started creating the project. We enjoyed it, because we love our environment and we know it's a good thing for nature. We sent the recycling projects into a competition and some of them were awarded. As a price we could go to Prague to the Center of the European Union. We took part in “speak datings”, where we could learn some basic vocabulary and  phrases in foreign languages, which are not usually taught at our schools. It was very exciting and we are thankful for this experience.

Planting of trees - October 2021 s1unickozdenka https://padlet.com/s1unickozdenka/bg5pohyaz9v5cw1p/wish/2315057246 We celebrated International Arbor Day on 20 October by symbolically planting new trees. The event had been planned since last year, but its implementation was not at all easy, and in the end it was spoilt by covid.
The first part of the project was a presentation on the topic of bark beetle and planting new trees, which prepared one of the students for her classmates. The second and most important part of the project was the actual planting of more than a hundred trees. We then closed the whole project by listening to the audiobook The Man Who Planted Trees by Jean Giono, which was the topic of the worksheet for the reading workshop during the literature lesson.
I am very grateful for the fact that we were able to make this project happen together. The weather was good, the sun was warm (according to the words of the forester, too much for planting), there was a pleasant atmosphere during the planting and later during the barbecue and we all went home with a feeling of a job well done. I firmly believe that our beeches and oaks will take hold. I am looking forward to seeing our trees grow stronger and more vigorous as we and our families walk to Lomec, and making all passers-by happy.

Five of our students visited them one month later. We were most amused by coordinator Helena's sentence that it was sunny but cold (in Portugal), with only 16°C on the thermometer. In March there was a skiing course for our class. It took place in Šumava mountains. It was very nice weather, snow and sunshine.
We arrived at the ski course on the afternoon of Sunday, March 6th. We took our things to our rooms in the hotel Churanov and before we could unpack, we went out in our ski gear with our equipment in our hands and divided into teams. Altogether four groups formed, with the two least fit riding together the whole time. The most skilled one was led and taught by Deputy Schacherl, he named it the "red team". The so-called "blue team", which consisted of excellent but less skilled skiers, was taken under the wing of the teacher Mrs. Melounková. The remaining students were those who had never skied before, or could not remember anything. They were taught by Mr. Kubelka, the teacher and course leader, together with Mrs. Nováková. After some time, when they already knew the basics, we also assigned them a colour, they became a "yellow team".
After the division, the red and blue team moved to the ski slope "U Hořejšů", located directly above the hotel, so that the teachers could see how we ride and whether we belong to the chosen team. During the course it was only moved to a higher level, but that was later. After two rides we returned to the hotel for a snack and the rest of the day was free to unpack and acclimatise.
On Monday morning, the red and blue teams took the ski bus straight to the "Kobyla" slope. The others stayed at "U Hořejšů". In the afternoon, the blue team headed by Mr. Kubelka went on cross-country skiing, on which the vast majority of them were standing for the first time. The next day, Tuesday, everything was repeated, but the yellow team went cross-country skiing. On this day there was also singing in the evening.
Wednesday became a rest day, so we went to the slopes only in the morning, except for the red team, which also did not avoid cross-country skiing. At the end of the cross-country training, each group tried a pursuit race of about one kilometer. In the afternoon, after an extended rest, we went for a walk. Our destination was the meteorological station Churanov. In the evening there was a voluntary night skiing.
On Thursday, all the teams were already squeezed in the ski bus on the way to the ski slope "Kobyla". In the afternoon, we were given complete freedom on the slope and could ski as much as we wanted, of course with an appeal to the safety of us and the people around us. The evening was social, we played various games.
Friday was our last day. We had to pack before we left, so there was not much time in the morning, so we stayed only at "U Hořejšů", where we bought our last ski pass of this ski course. We skied again freely and safely.
On behalf of both classes, I dare to say that we enjoyed the course very much and learned a lot of new things or even fell in love with skiing. The hotel was nice and the cooking was good. We had a funny bartender to keep us company until Thursday, with whom many of us had a lot of fun. In short, we are very grateful that we were able to have a ski trip and that we were compensated for the two year delay, many were not so lucky. On behalf of the students, thank you to all the teachers who volunteered to spend a great few days with us on the course.

Our first mobility in Palmela-Portugal: 20 - 26 March s1unickozdenka https://padlet.com/s1unickozdenka/bg5pohyaz9v5cw1p/wish/2315057261 On Sunday 20 March we arrived in Portugal, where we were welcomed by our host families in Palmela. The next day we met together at the school and presented our countries and schools one by one. This was followed by activities to bring us closer to people from other countries. Throughout the day we talked in English and got to know each other better. In the evening, we had a dinner together at school where we tasted a lot of traditional Portuguese food. The day went really fast...probably because we really enjoyed it.
On Tuesday we took the bus to Lisbon, where our first stop was the aquarium. We saw many kinds of fish in the aquarium. Then we continued on to the Jeronymite Monastery, where we parted ways. At the parting we all had lunch and went to the science museum. At the science museum we tried riding a bike in the air, found out what water is useful for and lots of other things. During the whole day we learnt lots of new words in foreign languages and people from other countries learnt lots of Czech words.
On Wednesday in the morning we decorated cardboard fish. After lunch we did Padlet in which we all briefly introduced ourselves and to end the day a robot drove around the room and played a song. After school we went for a walk around Palmela and after dinner at our host family's house we went to a concert by Mariana, the Portuguese girl we are staying with. We didn't get home until shortly after midnight. I really enjoyed the program and can't wait for the next day.

Our second mobility in Czechia - Vodňany 1 - 7 May s1unickozdenka https://padlet.com/s1unickozdenka/bg5pohyaz9v5cw1p/wish/2315057268 After the trip to Portugal in March, our pupils stayed in touch with their foreign friends and were full of enthusiasm waiting for the next meeting, which was to take place in Vodňany. For weeks we had been planning and preparing the program, dividing the guests into families and preparing for the first week of May.

    On Sunday, May 1, I went to Prague airport to pick up eight teachers and twenty students from Portugal, Spain, Greece and Bulgaria. That same evening, our children and their parents took them to their homes for their first Czech dinner. Even though the children had already contacted each other via Instagram, some of them left for their new adventure with a certain amount of fear, but there was no sign of it during the week.

    We started the first day at school with a welcome ceremony and pre-prepared presentations about schools, cities and countries. These were followed by games for the pupils to get to know each other better and have some fun. In addition to the games to remember names and find out information about each other, they were also interested in a competition to build a tall spaghetti tower. After lunch, we visited the church in Vodnany and went on a tour around Vodnany, which was very nicely commented by Mrs. Velkova. There was also ice cream and a photo shoot with witches at the maypole in the square. We finished the program with a walk between the ponds of Vodnany to the Secondary fisheries school, where local students showed us the fish tanks and the museum. At the fountain, our students picked up the guests and went to the common program, bowling and pizza.
On Tuesday morning, with good mood, encouraged by the sunny weather, we took the bus to Prague, where we were picked up by friendly guides, with whom we set off to explore the beauty of our capital city. We started at Petrin Hill, where we had a wonderful view, visited Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Golden Lane, Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. The tour was long, but interesting and the foreigners were absolutely fascinated by Prague. After a late lunch at a restaurant with typical Czech food and a break up at Wenceslas Square, we met upstairs under the horse and headed for the bus. On the way back, the children sang and talked together. We came back tired but full of experiences.
Wednesday's program was in the spirit of Czech cuisine. In the morning we met in the studio at the apprentice school, where nice cooks were waiting for us. The pupils were divided into two groups. One group cooked a common lunch for everyone - chicken broth with homemade noodles and pork, dumplings, very (even double dumplings), the other group prepared fragrant desserts - two kinds of apple strudel and yeast cakes with four kinds of fillings. There were also local products such as honey, nuts and apples. The children were assisted in cooking by skilful apprentices who showed and explained everything to them, our pupils interpreted everything into English. After an awkward start, the cooking and baking got underway beautifully, everyone was absolutely delighted with the work and we even managed to have lunch ahead of time. We had lunch right in the classroom at a beautifully set table. After a delicious lunch, the children took away printed recipes and new experiences. We moved on to our school where they worked on an international cookbook, which is one of the outputs of our project. We finished the day with a sports afternoon in the school grounds, to which parents were also invited. The children competed in international teams and went to their families for dinner, tired.
The next day was again a trip, this time to the Planetarium in České Budějovice and Český Krumlov. In addition to a tour of the town, which literally amazed our guests with its charm, and a delicious lunch, there was also a tour of the local monastery, including an interactive workshop in which the pupils could try on period suits, quill writing, making scapulars or bath salts. At the end of the day there was a surprise in the form of a short visit to the Hluboká Castle.
  Friday was purely work day. The pupils were divided into five international groups, each group working on project activities of various kinds. One group, for example, processed photos and videos from the sports afternoon, another group prepared a presentation and quiz on local products - for example, a prima kahoot on sea and freshwater fish. The third group made a quiz, a padlet about recycling and also made a poster with bees out of old cardboard, paper and fabric. The fourth group went around the classroom with a questionnaire on healthy eating, and then used the answers to make an analysis of whether they eat more in the school canteen or in fast food restaurants. The fifth group looked at the nutritional values of different foods and made an interesting presentation. We teachers had a coordinators' meeting. They also all made their own candle from a honeycomb during the morning to take home as a gift. After lunch, there was nothing left to do but to present the projects and outputs created at the final conference, present certificates to all participants, thank them for their cooperation and say goodbye.
Early Saturday morning our guests left for the airport full of new experiences, impressions, language skills, grateful for new friendships and with the hope of meeting again in one of the partner countries. There were also tears and hugs during the morning farewell at the bus.

    Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who participated in the project, especially to our pupils and their families who hosted our friends, to the schools that cooperated with us (the secondary Fisheries school, the apprentice school for cooks), to our colleagues Petra Kochrdová, Jitka Melounková, Milena Čejková and the head teacher Bára Křížková-Louženská. Without their help, our project week could not have been realized. I also send my thanks upstairs for the fabulous weather.

    There is a lot of work, time and stress behind an event like this, but I firmly believe that it is the most valuable thing I can give my students in their lives and that they will remember it fondly in the future.
