The families were very worried when the boys did not show up at Night's birthday party. They contacted a rescue team and never left the cave even late at night. They expressed their emotions very strongly when the rescuers failed to retrieve the boys and their worry and care was very apparent.

Vern has an obsession with caves and helps navigate directions. He specifically mapped out Tham Luang, which proved useful in the rescue. He knows a lot about caves and has been in them several times. Vern knows how to get out of sticky situations when in caves. He told the navy seals where a hole-shaped opening is.

The honorable monk Kruba Boonchum arrives and he reassures the families. The relatives are convinced by the monk that their children will be fine.

The boys on the Wild Boars team that did not go on the epic adventure gone wrong with the other 12 boys are torn when they hear about the incident. On one hand they are relieved it is not them inside that cave and that they are safe and sound with their families. On the other hand, they are guilty about being safe while the other boys suffer. They don't know what to feel.

He and his team are very strategic, they compose plans to get them out as follows,- Drill a hole to see if they're alive, To suck out the water so that they can walk straight in/out of the cave. Finally, to look for separate entrances to the cave and to try to get them out that way. He was the one who convinced the Thais to dive out.

While waiting to be rescued, the boys hold on to their little hope. They make plans for after the rescue and they make an important promise: When they get out of the cave, they will always stick together and look after one another. They will never go somewhere without telling the other where they are going or else they will end up in the same sticky situation as they are now. The only thing keeping the boys going are memories of their families. The faces of their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and grandparents fill their heads in the daytime and in sleep. It brings them comfort to imagine what life will be like again once they are back.

Coach Ek was born in the hills of Myanmar. When he was only nine, his parents and brother passed away from illness. From then on, his grandmother took care of him. His grandmother sent him to a temple in Lamphun to become a novice monk. From this, he has become highly disciplined and has a high awareness. When he turned twenty, Coach Ek moved to Mae Sai and volunteered at Wat Doi Wao, another temple. After a while, the head coach of the Wild Boars hired him as an assistant. This fulfilled his dream of owning a soccer team because his dad LOVED soccer.

At the ripe age of 9 after his parents and brother died, his grandmother took him in, but she couldn't take care of him forever, so she sent him to a Buddhist Temple to become a nein, or a novice monk. In the Buddhist culture it is often considered that you have to become a nein for at least some time to reach true manhood, most people stay for a short amount of time, but Ek stayed for way longer. At another temple the senior monk noticed that he loved children and worked with them very efficiently, children would listen to him when they listened to no one else, he noticed that he also loved games. Coach Ek's dream at the time was to lead his own soccer team, when the head coach of the Wild Boars appointed him as an assistant he was beyond happy. He wanted to pass on all of his teachings as a monk to the boys, especially his physical and mental training.

Thanet Natisri is an American citizen who was born in Thailand, he currently lives in Marion, Illinois. Thanet is currently an architecture student, restaurant owner, and, as of late a water expert. At one point they got a call from the Thai army to deal with the situation at Tham Luang. Thanet gets frustrated that the team only has 2D maps of the cave instead of 3D ones, which require special seismic equipment that he urges the team to get, but they say no. At this rate, the rain has stopped, but there's no way that they'll even make a dent in the amount of water there is, it's best if they pump the water out from the bottom of the mountain so that the water level can go down naturally. Thanet discovers that there's another cave at a lower elevation called Sai Tong, it has a creek that flows out of the cave mouth into a pond, if Tham Luang and Sai Tong are connected, then the water could be drained out through the Sai Tong pond by drilling under the pond.

After the boys are found, some Thai Navy Seals and a doctor named Pak Loharachun go into Tham Luang to give medical aid and supplies to the boys. When they don't have enough air to get back out, the SEALS choose to stay with the boys instead of having extra air canisters brought to them. The SEALS and Dr. Pak say they won't leave until the boys are safe and out of the cave. They put their own lives at stake for the boys.

Convincing the Thais (Amoolya)

To convince the Thais to go forward with the plan of extracting the boys out immediately, a few selected individuals including Major Hodges, Sergeant Anderson, and Thanet set up a meeting. The Americans were very good at speaking with the Thais and eventually made the Thais see sense in the plan. Major Hodges pointed out all of the problems in different plans and explained why the diving option was the best. Sergeant Anderson showed the Thais his plan and made them think it was well made and thought about. The Thais and all of the rescuers finally came up with a plan they all agreed with. Because of the Americans' speaking skills, the boys were able to be rescued safely and without any communication problems.
