In High School, my history teacher took us to a Holocaust museum and that sparked an interest in museums for me. However, my teacher and how she taught our class about history contributed. Also, I went to the Netherlands that summer and visited a historical site that had been transformed into a museum to remember the holocaust as well. The original site was kept in its original format and was mostly in ruins, but an area had been added to show various pieces of history of WWII and the Holocaust, unfortunately, much of the information and details were in Dutch, but it was still a rewarding and impactful experience. My experiences at these museums and my interest in World War II created a desire to be a part of teaching others about history. Currently, I have even applied to teach history at our local high school and will be working at a local museum that details the history of the county that I live in.
