Today we watched Magic grandad and learned about the conditions of the hospital before Florence changed things. We retrieved lots of ideas and we used different adjectives to describe.

A group of children discussed their learning with Mrs Cain. They discussed who Florence Nightingale was and what changes she made. The children had a go writing their ideas down, they were very good verbally.

Today we learned about the patron saints of the UK and why they became saints. We spoke about how they had to be brave when the religion of Christianity was threatened by the Romans. The children then completed crafts about their patron saint.

We discussed the meaning and history behind Remembrance Day and used this to create artwork. Some of our artwork was chosen for display in the Market Place, Bolton.

Today we learned about when and where the GFOL started. We talked about the materials houses were made from in the past and recreated wattle and daub walls. We talked about how flammable materials were used and the weather conditions that made the fire spread rapidly.
