She was lured to pick a flower she adored which caused the earth to open and swallow her. It is revealed that Hades loves her dearly and wants her as queen. As time passes, she adapts quickly, changes in ways not expected, and is even torn between staying with Hades and being with her mother on earth. Eventually, Demeter becomes old and twisted with a mix of emotions. A messenger is sent to retrieve Persephone, but before she leaves, she eats a pomegranate from her husband which binds her to the underworld four months of the year. Meanwhile, Hades, the god of the underworld, was watching from the underworld, and he instantly fell in love. So Hades, like the creepy stalker he is, went up to the overworld and basically kidnapped Persephone. This devastated Demeter and she became very depressed. Persephone ended up falling in love with Hades but she missed her mother, so eventually Hades and Demeter came to a deal.
