Mexico's main religion is Roman Catholicism and is most known for their economic and cultural hub.

They recognize death to be a natural part of life. They don't want the dead to be insulted by the morning and sadness. Therefore, they celebrate it. The dead are celebrated with food, drinks, parties, and the activities they loved when they were alive. On this day, the dead are awakened to celebrate with their loved ones. Dia de los Muertos most famous symbol is the calacas and calaveras. 

This holiday traces back to the Aztecs. Skulls- like the ones that were placed on Aztec temples- were used as a main symbol for this tradition. After the Aztec empire was conquered by the Spanish in the 16th century, indigenous celebrations and rituals that honored the dead were moved to Catholic dates.
