Looking forward to the session. Data driven decision making and evidence based practice are interesting and important aspects of what we do. Thank you.

Literacy results for NAPLAN are quite descriptive but should not be used as a diagnosis or an interpretation of student overall performance. This is because the interrelationships of skills are known to provide students with effective and powerful literacy outcomes, despite deficiencies. It would be helpful to see where there are mismatched expectations between NAPLAN outcomes and course content. It would also be helpful to be able to see which skills in a cohort correspond most strongly with more general tasks in their course work. This is important as there is no oral/aural component in NAPLAN and all writing is not necessarily reflective of NAPLAN assumptions. It's the problem of creativity.
