Malawi has a few social issues. A lot of people in the country use a lot of drugs and due to the lack of healthcare workers in the country they can't get the health that they need. Most of the country is in poverty and can't afford to buy simple things. There is also a lot of deforestation in the country where hundreds of trees get chopped down. There is also a lack of water. Some water is polluted while some water is far away from where the people that need it.

The Republic of Malawi is a presidential republic and is governed by a president. Which functions as head of government and head of state. The head of government is, President Lazarus Chawera. The capital is Lilongwe. The government is a multiparty democracy. Also got the constitution in 1994. They also have a market economy. (doing well) Many political parties are active in Malawi, though there are few major differences among most party platforms.

In Malawi, 67 percent of adults can read or write. Since the government does not have much money, the schools are not well funded. Students have to provide their own textbooks and school supplies, which can be very hard for struggling farmers. The schools provide 8 years of schooling, but students are only required to go for 4 years. This would mean that they are allowed to quit school when they are nine or ten years old. At the end of primary school, and secondary school if they go, students take national exams. This dictates what college or university they go to if they have enough money. Only the most high-achieving students go to university. The University of Malawi has five campuses, and students can also attend other universities as well.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. It only has a GDP of $7.77, compare this to the United States' GDP of $23.32 trillion, Malawi is very small. A large economic export of the country is tobacco. Many farms in the country produce tobacco. Country also heavily relies on international forces to help the country with its farming and economic needs. A lot of working men in country travel to South Africa or Zimbabwe and send the money they make back to their families in Zimbabwe. The country's currency is the Kwacha.

Daily life in Malawi is quite difficult. Most villages struggle to get access to food and water. Being one of the poorest countries in the world a lot of people struggle to find healthcare. There are very few doctors and medical care workers so many people succumb to disease. Most people live in small huts made from dirt and plants.

97 percent of Malawians are of African descent. The official language of Malawi is English, but Chichewa, and Chitumbuka are also spoken. Most of the inhabitants of Malawi live in the Southern region and work as subsistence farmers. Malawi is also known as "The Warm Heart of Africa" because the people are known for being kind and compassionate. In Malawi, many people shake both hands as a greeting, and it is also a sign of respect to show both hands. Malawi has a population of 21 million, and the average age is 17. This is incredibly young compared to other countries. The average age in the United States is around 30. There is also a secret society in Malawi, that many people belong to. It only accepts men, and it involves wearing masks that resemble various animals. The Kafula and Bantu people were the first to settle the area, but they were later removed by the Maravi people. The Maravi gifted land to the Chewa people, which caused more settlers to come, looking for a place to live. Later, the British settled the area and called it Nyasaland. In 1964, Malawi became a republic, with Hastings Bandu as the first president.

In Malawi, 77 percent of the population is Christian, with 17 percent Roman Catholics, and 27 percent other Christian religions. The rest of the population is comprised of 14% Islam and 3% traditional African religion. This contrasts the differences between Africa, and the western influences that America and Britain have had on Malawi. For example, when Britain colonized Malawi, they brought many of their customs and religions.

In Malawi, there is lots of rain, and many trees are cut down.

In the last 50 years, they experienced 19 major floods and 7 serious droughts. Freshwater fish from the lake provides 70 percent of animal protein that gets eaten by the population. The Water becomes polluted by chemicals going into the water. Malawi is the size of Pennsylvania. Its also damp and fog and heavy clouds. The area is about 45,747 miles. Malawi's temperatures and rainfall vary with elevation. There are rainy seasons those seasons are November–April. These months bring in most of Malawi's annual rainfall. Temperatures during the dry season May–October range from cool to hot.
