At this stage I met the group. It is integrated by 18 students who are 6 years old. Their attitude towards English is really positive. I noticed that the kids enjoy doing group activities and games. The unit the pupils are studying is about 'toys'.
The English class starts after a break. Therefore, it is necessary to catch the children's attention at the beginning of the class to get them focused on the tasks.
In addition, I learnt the routine the teacher uses so as to keep the students quiet and confortable during the lessons.

Today the 'Reading project week' began and the classroom was full with other groups doing readings. Therefore, the teacher took the students to the gym to do activities there. She also took color flashcards and made the kids to compete in teams. Apart from that, the s made a circle and then played 'Simon says'.

What aspects of the lesson do you consider successful?
I realized how important and necessary it is to do activities that involve movement, such as dancing, running or jumping. By means of this tasks, children develop body awareness and revise vocabulary they already know. At the same time, the kids work cooperatively and learn how to follow instructions adequately. As I see, movement is a strong teaching tool that motivates children through learning.

By following the teacher's suggestion, I started working with a new topic: 'Food'. I presented new vocabulary by means of flashcards and reading a story. I made a short introduction to the topic and then I encouraged the group to come closer and sit in a circle. The book I read was The great cake contest. I downloaded from Internet and adapted it to make the story suitable for this kids.

Choose a quotation that represents an event, knowledge, insight in this lesson.
There is no substitute for books in the life of a child. —May Ellen Chase

I truly believe that reading in class is a very effective and beneficial teaching strategie. Reading improves the kids' concentration, since they have to sit quietly to focus on the story. Besides that, by listening to my voice, the pupils acquire new words. As a consequence, they enlarge their vocabulary and improve their language skills.
It is important to mention, that reading lets the children develop their creativity. Moreover, by being engaged with the story, the kids imagine how the character feels and develop empathy.

Today the aim was teaching the children to learn and use the 'Do you like...?' structure. During the entire lesson, the kids expressed one by one their likes and dislikes at lunch time. Through this way, the students practiced the use of I like and I don't like. Furthermore, the pupils used the vocabulary they already knew. Finally, the pupils watched a short video and sang along a song about tasty and non tasty food.

What teaching strategies did you use? Which ones were effective? Why / why not?
During the warm up stage, I asked the kids if they remembered that the previous class we cooked truffles. I also asked them to mention the ingredients they used. The objective was to elicit the kids' knowledge. Therefore, I asked them directly 'Did you use milk/banana/cake/chocolate? '. By providing options, it was easier for the students to identify the target vocabulary.
However, during the presentation of the topic, my technique was not efficient. My idea was encouraging the students to take a card and stick it in the right place on the whiteboard. Nevertheless, in a moment, all the children wanted to participate at the same time and they all came to the board together, without waiting for their turn. Personally, it was difficult to control the group again in order to be able to do the activity.

What aspects of the lesson require change / improvement?
In relation to what I mentioned before, I consider that my clasroom management strategies should be improved. It is necessary for me to maintain the class organized and provide the students a quiet environment for learning.

I started the class with a puzzle. I printed two drawings and cut it into pieces. Then, each kid picked one piece without looking out of a bag and stuck it on the witheboard by following a guidance. Since there were two possible puzzles to put together, the children had a lot of fun seeing which piece they obtained and thinking where they should place it.
Another funny moment in class was preparing our own pizza. Previously, I gave to the children paper pizzas and colorful ingredients we learned in class, to build them. By doing this task, I noticed that the students used English between them and they also acquired more vocabulary rather than when they complete a photocopy.

How did the students react to your teaching, to the activities and the materials? How did they react to the lesson?
In general, the kids' reaction was positive. Every time I arrived to the school, the children were in their break. However, they still came to greet me and ask me what I brought in my 'surprise box' to work with today. Evidently, they felt curious and enjoyed the materials I prepare.

Today's class was about classifying foods into sweet and salty. Once the children picked a flashcard, they had to say its name aloud and then, indicate if that meal was sweet or salty. After that, we played a game. Finally, I provided each kid with a photocopy and colored paper. They had to cut out pieces of paper and decorate the picture. Besides that, the students had to write the name of the food and its flavor.
Although the children could complete the task, this activity took more time that I expected. Therefore, I had to make the clousure instance shorter.

Today was our last lesson. Although the pupils did a revision of known vocabulary, the class was based mostly on saying goodbye to them. Therefore, I organized a small party. I provided 'the Simon's party' as a context. Furthermore, I brought to school flashcards, plastic glasses and garlands to decorate the room. During the lesson, we all toghether counted how many guests they were, how many boys and girls there were, how many balloons and glasses too. My idea was to go the the gym and play 'Simon says' there. However, that place was occupied. Therefore, I modified the activity to do something similar in the classroom. I asked to the children to follow different instructions, such as raising hands, making circles of 4/5/6 kids, clicking their fingers and so on. After that, I did the clousure with the usual goodbye song.

Describe this lesson in terms of a metaphor.
The disorder was not so bad in this world full of colour and music.

By using this phrase, I want to express that, even though the kids were noisy while they were playing, they transmitted me fun and joy. It is known that a party is disorganized but fun. In other words, in spite of the children were not sitting on their desks as usual, I think that the students enjoyed their class anyway.
