I struggle with incorporating innovations on a regular basis into the Language Arts Classroom. Sometimes, I can become lost in focusing on what needs to be done that I forget to let students explore their own interests. I need to let students run more with their own ideas and explore their own passions, especially when they are doing research or writing. I think this process makes me uncomfortable and I, at times, I forget its okay to be uncomfortable and let learning just happened in it’s own way.

I spend a lot of the first semester asking students, “What could you do to figure this out?”  We also reflect on projects and I ask the students how we could fix things that didn’t go as smoothly as we originally thought they would. As the year progresses, I stop asking students to solve problems, and my students start finding the problems on their own. By at first modeling to my students that finding and fixing problems is a normal process in our class, students start to take ownership of this process. Students identify when they are struggling and look for ways to fix that struggle.
