Hammurabi's Code was one of the first morally based law codes originating from Ancient Babylon. Here is a list of some of the laws mentioned in the Code: 1. If a wife has been neglecting her house and belittling her husband, they shall throw that woman in the water.; 2. If a son has struck his father.; 3. If a man has destroyed the eye of another man, his own eye shall be destroyed.; 4. If a man has destroyed an eye of a peasant. or broken a bone of a peasant, he shall pay one mina of silver.; 5. If a man has destroyed an eye of man's slave, or broken a bone of a man's slave, he shall pay one mina of silver. At first glance, Hammurabi's Code already shows me so much about their society. It showed me that in their society they don't yet understand the concept of fairness, and this causes so many problems.
