He went to Harvard university where he received his undergraduate degree and master’s. Before becoming the president he became the vice president to George Washington and on March 4th, 1797 he became president of the United states.

This party opposed the views of the Democratic-Republican party. This party dominated the government during Adams's presidency and they supported National power instead of many state power and local government. His administration focused on France, where  the ruling group  had refused to receive the American representation.

The Eleventh Amendment says that the federal courts can not have the jurisdiction over indictment between individuals from one state against individuals from another state. January 08, 1798 
    • On June 18, 1798 congress approved the First Alien and Sedition Acts during the presidency of John Adams.
    • On June 11, 1800 Washington becomes U.S. capital during John Adams preisdency.
    The XYZ Affair were three French ministers who had sent a letter asking for a $250,000 bribe before meeting the American delegation in France. The President introduces the letter to the public but instead of giving exact names he replaced the ministers name with X, Y, and Z. The XYZ affair brought the U.S. to the brink of war with France.Boston Massacre!

    1. Abigail Adams- John Adams wife. She was very important in Adam’s preisdency because she constantly exchanged letters and she tried to encourage and push him.
    2. Alexander Hamilton- He was the leader of the federalists and he also was the first secretary of treasury.
    3. James Otis- A close friend of Adams, patriot, and legislative ally.
    4. Thomas Hutchinson- Adam’s opponent for a very long time. Also, chief justice of the supreme judicial court.
    5. John Quincy Adams- Adams oldest son… 6th president of the U.S.
