         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Cooperative learning <br>*</strong><em>Team Maker </em>randomly sorts, groups, and assigns students jobs within their cooperative learning teams.<br>*<em>Tablets and Laptops</em> allows students to take notes or create audio/video recordings of group discussions. <br><em>Evernote</em> (note-taking app), <br><em>Mindjet&nbsp;</em>(mind-mapping app) <br>--allow students to record problem-solving strategies as their peers solve math problems.<br>--allow students to use <em>clickers</em> or <em>mobile devices with polling software</em> to respond to student-created questions.<br><br><strong>Cooperative comparisons<br></strong>*<em>IWB, Prezi, and screencast tools (Jing, ScreenChomp, Educreations, TouchCast) </em>allow students to respond to cooperative comparison questions.<br><br><strong>Performances and peer critiques<br></strong>* Use <em>screencasting tools</em> to allow students to create screencasts of new knowledge and skills, and post on the class website for peer critiques, reflection, and discussion. <br>*Use<em> recording and movie editing software (iMovie)</em> for students to record/edit recreated scenes from a historic work of literature.<br>*Students can create images, flowcharts, diagrams, or advanced organizers to represent thinking and understanding, using <em>IWB&nbsp; software, Google Drive, and Mindjet;&nbsp;</em>all of which can be posted to the class website for peer critiques, reflection, and discussion.<br>*Involve students in <em>academic online projects</em> like<em> iEARN</em> for students to demonstrate understanding of new concepts or skills.</div>]]></description>

This strategy exposes students to diverse perspectives, new ways to solve problems, and allows for deeper understanding due to "teaching" others their thought process.<br><br>*<strong>Cooperative comparisons: </strong>students work in groups to discuss and answer self-reflective comparison questions, or ones designed to deepen understanding among students. <br><br>*<strong>Performance and peer critiques: </strong>students perform or present their newly acquired knowledge with peer review incorporated for students to practice giving and receiving constructive criticism. </div>]]></description>
