Today was the first day of STEMester. In the morning, we listened to a speaker talk about her volunteer work and why we should all do it. It looks really good on college and job applications, and it can make you feel better as a person. It can also prevent things like depression and stress. I thought volunteering was pointless, but now I think that it would be a good idea for me to volunteer and help around Charleston.

On the first day of STEMester we listened to two people talk about volunteering and reading to elementary school kids. We learned that volunteering relieves stress and combats depression. We walked around school and thought of ideas to help beautify our school. Doing these things really made me want to volunteer more and now I'm looking forward to helping my community.

Today we went around the school to see what spots could be beautified. On Wednesday, we're going take action to those spots look nice. We went to the park today and was out there for a good hour. We had two speakers. One of the speakers was talking about how you should volunteer, not for a reward, but to do something good for this Earth because there's already enough people bringing negativity to this world. That made me want to volunteer at an animal shelter even more. On Wednesday, I'm going to help feed the less fortunate people for lunch.

Tommorrow I'm going to help the people at the Local foodbank and work very hard to Earn a Living in the Future after i graduate from college and get a very succesful Job and Carrier in this Stemester

Today we went around the school and looked for what could be beautified. This activity was very interesting because this school has plenty of things that could be touched up on. I was looking forward to this because our school is lacking in appealing appearance. So we went around and saw things like benches, walls, and fences that could be painted over and fixed.

Day 1 of Service Learning was pretty good.. Better than i expected it would be. The Speaker was boring but after that i really liked us walking around talking about the school flaws because that really showed us how we should want clean up our school and we can see what outsiders see. I also liked the park because it was a more free time & independent thing and we didn’t have to sit in the classroom for so long.

Today was the first day of Semester, we listen to a lady talk to us about her volunteering work and why is good to volunteer. I think it was really interesting.
and also our family has been volunteering to help feed the homeless people at downtown. at first I thought volunteering was pointless because you don't get paid for it, but now I have so much fun to volunteer and I think is a good idea to help others.

Today we volunteered at the Lowcountry Food Bank and helped make boxes of food for elderly people around Charleston. We made 1,500 meals in two and a half hours. It was a lot of work, but it made me feel good that all of that work is going to a good cause, and will help a lot of people. This experience makes me want to volunteer more to help my community.

Day 2- We went to the food bank and volunteered to put meals into boxes which ended up being 500 boxes with 3 meals per box. The boxes were for the unfortunate people who need the meals which was a nice thing to do for the community. Then we went to Marion Square and ate a meal for an hour for lunch which was nice.

Today we went to the Lowcountry Food Bank and we packaged food for their monthly program that gives meals to senior citizens. We packaged food like beef stew, applesauce, and cans of corn. We packaged about 500 boxes which adds up to 1,500 meals. Volunteering was a good thing to do especially to help local senior citizens. We used teamwork package all the boxes in only two and a half hours. This effected me because I have never lifted more cans or fruit or corn in my entire life.

Today at the food bank, we packaged boxes of food with meals that would go to underprivileged people. We made about 15,000 meals that will feed about 503 families. On our own, my group wrote down the materials for service on the wall on the south of the school. We plan to board that tmrow. Also we are getting ready to read to weird kids at a montasouri school, looking forward to that.

This morning, we all beautified the school. Samantha and I worked on cleaning the brick walls by the tables outside. We used scrubs and a cleaning solution. While we were cleaning, Mr. Ore came outside and thanked us for cleaning the walls.That made me feel really good that I was making a difference in the school. We also went to volunteer at the Neighborhood House and we fed some people who can't afford lunch. My job was to help with the drinks. It made me feel really good when the people thanked me.

Today we started the day by cleaning and beautifying our campus. Some people painted the benches and Rose and I scrubbed the bricks and got off all the old stains. Then a small group of us walked to the Neighborhood House and prepared weekend bags for people that are homeless. Then we got ready to serve people. I served the soup to everyone. It was really nice to see not only the people enjoying the food but also seeing those same people leaving full. There was so much food donated from all sorts of places, and it was really nice because we actually had food leftover and people got to leave with a lot of e food.

Today we met in Mrs. Pitas classroom where she had presentation about international teaching and then went to the gym and play some basketball, volleyball and chill. At 10am we walked to Citadel and have an interesting campus tour with one of the cadets. We had lunch in chick fil a and then walked to James Simmons school and observe, read and help little kids. Today, I got a better understanding of what it means to be an international teacher thanks to Ms.Pita’s slideshow. We also toured the Citadel and I learned that freshman are referred to as knobs. Then, we ate lunch on their campus. We finished the day off by reading to kids at James Simmons Elementary School where I learned about minerals with an 8 year old named Jaleiah. Overall, today was fun.

Then walked over to James Simmons. I sat and observed a music class and they were learning about jazz music.

Today in STEMester we went to the Citadel and learned about student life, specifically freshman life. We took a tour and learned asked questions. Basically the Citsde is a paradox and has an “honor code” but then they get to treat the freshman class like garbage?? Then we went to James Simmons and read to children, we also learned about the benefits of being an international teacher which was interesting.

Today we went to the citadel and had a tour about the college campus and the rules and regulations they have. During the tour a junior canadet explained the responsibilities for the freshmans through the seniors. He also explained the different parts of the buildings and what their purpose was. After the tour, well during the tour i found out that the citadel will not be a good college for me. After the citadel we went to James simmmons to finish our readings with the kids. My group saw all the special areas and how the kids at such a young age are more advanced from the new technology.

I know that I personally don’t want to go to this college mostly because of the daily regimond and the way they treat the freshmans. Although there life in the campus might be harder than an ordinary college it seems to have a long lasting effect on the students

the first thing we did this morning was hear Mrs. Pita talk about international teachers and what the do. After that we some students when to the gym and played basketball and some of the other students had to finish the pallets that did not accomplish. When those students finished their work we all got some time to do what they wanted. Today was great I had lots of fun visiting Claflin University. I enjoyed seeing all of the building and even some students. I like that CU have lots of good science majors. After, we went to go get lunch at malls in Orangeburg but it didn’t really work out how we planned. So we headed back to Charleston to have lunch at Northwoods Mall.

On this chilly March day we headed off to Claflin University at 8:15 AM. When we arrived we toured the campus and learned about the various opportunities for students. Once that was over, we ventured back onto the bus. We viewed 2 malls in Orangeburg in search of food and got off at one. In that mall, there was only 2 food options, both of which were sketchy. Therefore, we didn’t eat there and I was grateful for that. We did eat at Northwoods mall though and that was a lot better than the other malls. Lastly, we came back to the school. This day was kinda wild.

Today in STEMester we visited Claflin University and got to take a tour of their campus. We learned about how the students lived and what they did for fun. It was a very interesting tour and we learned a lot. Then we went to a mall with a “food court” and we got to see a roach in it. Then we went to Northwoods mall and ate at their food court which was good and better than the food court or the prince of orange mall.

Today was pretty fun. First we went to Clafflin, and the ride there took an hour. I was sleeping, that was a good nap. Then, we had a tour of the college. It's a nice college, I'm considering going there to be honest. After the tour was over, we went to get something to eat. They took us to Orangeburg mall, it looked abanded and run down. They didn't even have a foodcourt, so we went to the other mall. They had ROACHES. It took us an hour to go to the Northwoods Mall, I took another nap. I ate, then we went into the stores to buy something. I bought something out Rue 21, some shorts. That's all we did today.

We went to Trident technical college north campus. We learned more about apprenticeships and dual enrollment. Then we took a tour of some of the buildings. This beat part about the trip was when we went to the culinary building. We saw a student cooking and we went into a classroom to see how it was set up. I also had a side conversation with one of the tour guides Ms. April and she gave me some informative information.

On this day in STEMester, we started the day off by waiting for the bus. At 8:30 we departed off to trident technical college. It was fairly cold but the tour was pleasant. I took in a lot of information regarding daily campus life as a student there. Right after, we went directly back to the school. This was a pretty decent morning.

The first day we went to the Charleston Fire Station, it was pretty cool because we got to go into the fire truck, shoot a water fire extinguisher, and watch a firefighter go down the pole. The second day, we went to the zoo and it was pretty cool. My favorite animal was the flamingos because they were so pretty. The third day I wasn't at school. The fourth day, I just helped with the lost n found and also helped take down some of the stuff on the wall for Ms.Pita. We also, went to the park in this hot behind weather. STEMester was pretty cool.

We went to the fire station on Huger St. The fireman told us about how there day go. They told us that they work all day and night but the will get the nest two days off. We also learned how to open a door in case of an emergency. When we go done, we walked back to school and the youth outreach coordinator from Charleston County Public Library came in and talked to us and told us more information that week could do during summer.

The way they treat there cadets at the citadel is obscure. I wouldn't be able to go to that college due to the conditions the students are in. Claflin is a possibility for me because 3 of my cousins fo there and they like it. The atmosphere of claflin is very calm and relaxing.

We went to the RiverBanks Zoo. We left around 8 in the morning, on the way we stopped at a gas station. After that we only had 10 to 15 minutes to arrive at the zoo. We had a job tour and we got to learn about some of the animals. After that we could have walked around by ourselves. But we had to meet us at the entrance at 12:45.

This week was alright for me Due to the fact that i only was there for a couple of days and not all of the field trips. The fire department was pretty cool because i always wanted to learn more about their lifestyles. They sleep there 24 hours a day for each shift and they usually slide down their poles which was raw to me. Besides that Everything was good.
