         <description><![CDATA[I love this idea of answering or echoing. I have many students who think that if they just say "I don't know" they can get off easy and not have to answer any questions. It has been a struggle for some of these students with holding them accountable, because I don't want to single them out, but I don't want them to just not have to answer either. The purpose of questioning is to see what students know and to see how we can track their thinking and understanding. This would be a great way to start introducing students to the idea that they are going to be accountable for their answers and they can't just sit in class and not participate. I plan on implementing this strategy in my classroom immediately because I think that it is such an awesome idea. ]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I like the idea of giving students time to prepare their answers because not all students are confident in their answers to call them out in front of the entire class. Instead, this would allow them to prepare emotionally and physically to answer a question. I also agree with the "advice from the trenches" when it says to include Sally in the daily call outs too so that she doesn't get singled out. This allows all students to be on the same page and prepare their answers. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Giving students advanced warning to answer questions is a wonderful idea.  In our class (My co-teacher and I), we try to at least give the students time to formulate answer.  Many times we will say Johnny (higher level student) is going answer the first question but Mary (lower level student) is going</div><div>to answer the question after that.  This way Mary can formulate an answer without being put on the spot.  I do like the idea of having the students have questions the night before  for them to participate and engage in a lesson the next day.  With virtual learning, it is a difficult task to get students on-line (Google Meets) to participate when the other half of the class is in person.  Hopefully, when we go back to 5 days a week it will change the student involvement in the lesson.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The idea of getting the whole class involved with answer or echo is a wonderful concept especially those who are reluctant or shy to answer questions.  This method will hopefully involve all students even if they give an incorrect answer and they can learn from their mistakes. As teachers, we have used this method by saying "Class"...what is the answer to the math problem and students who are willing and eager will answer the questions. But, currently in hybrid model it is so hard to engage students and have them participate when they are virtual.  This concept of answer or echo will be more effective when we are back to school 5 days a week.</div>]]></description>

I have only seen this strategy played out on a 5 min warning scale but I appreciate how the day in advance would allow students to participate in lengthier discussions. I may give my students warning that I would like them to speak on Friday, virtually, since students are often radio silent when I call on them.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>I think this echo strategies is really great to get all students involved in class, I think it will work well for me because I have small classes and all students are friendly, so they will not get ashamed   to answer or even echo the question, it may make them more interested in answer the following questions to get participating points.</title>

Typically it causes behaviors if they do not have the answer correct, so I would not have to give them warning that they will be called on. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I like the idea of the echo and answer - It'll give the students an opportunity to speak out and provide an answer instead of just the usual two or three that provide answers until they are comfortable speaking in front of their peers. It will also give an opportunity to understand the material by listening to their classmates' answers prior to giving their answer after hearing and repeating. One thing I would tweak with this is once they have chosen to use their echo - when they are providing their answer, they must provide the answer of the person in front of them, but add a little something to their answer that applies to the material and their understanding.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Advance Warning would be hard to incorporate in my Science class. Due to the hybrid schedule, every second is precious in class.  I often spend most time performing labs and not writing.  Most writing assignments are posted for distance learning days.  I can see how this would benefit my class when we are back to 5 days.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I feel like this strategy has great potential for professional-environment preparation, like are so pertinent in this state's standards. I think it's a more than valuable idea to show students that you value their comprehension and ability to voice themselves in a thought-out way. My highschoolers mostly fly by the seat of their pants every day, the least we can do is show them that their voice is important. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I like this strategy too because sometimes students need time to think. At this age too (middle school) students might feel embarrassed to be put on the spot and there is a process in the brain that literally makes a student unable to think because their amigdala is telling them "oh no the teacher is calling you out" and they shut down. So giving students time to think is a great option for students to prepare and calm down their emotions so they feel ready to share with the class. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This strategy seems like a very unique way to get classroom involvement and student accountability up! I have a lot of discussion with students in my history classes, and using this as a way to call on the students will ensure that they either contribute with an answer OR are paying attention to the things they should learn and need to pick-up. I will definitely give this strategy a try to keep the students attentive and responsible for following along with the discussion even if they are too shy to directly contribute all the time.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would certainly use the advance warning with a 1 minute warning in my class, especially for whenever my students are doing a writing activity and I see a student composing a great written response, I'll tell them that in 1 minute I am going to call on them to share their great findings with the class. I can apply this to my classes this week actually as they are working on a DBQ.</div>]]></description>

         <title>I have struggled with students not participating often. In math class, students are sometimes especially hesitant because they have not grasped the concept yet. I would definitely consider using this strategy because it allows student to pass if they wish, but they are still involved because they will have to echo another student&#39;s response. This strategy creates a great balance between helping student remain engaged, but not embarrassing them.</title>

         <title>Advance warning is a strategy I have already been slightly implementing, but not  to its full capacity. I have been letting students have a few minutes to solve a problem on their own and then I tell them to make sure they are working on it because I will call on someone to share at random. However, after reading the text, I think it would be better if I give advance warning to specific students instead of the entire class.</title>

         <title>Science vocabulary is always tricky for students to understand but needs to constantly be practiced. This strategy would work great to give students a better way to answer vocab questions and an even better way to still get correct answers even if some students are unsure. They still all receive some part of repeating and using the word/definition. </title>

         <title>I like this strategy and have used it in my class to help students better prepare their answers to be shared. When students are caught off guard they do not enjoy that. This helps them to feel more comfortable with answering questions within class. </title>
