Below you will see a scenario that you may come across in your work for a public works department.

You are designing/implementing a temporary traffic control zone on a multi-lane undivided highway, working on the median lane (in the travel way) up against the roadway's centerline. Assume that the work will take several days.

1. Using the Florida Design Standards, what Design Standard Index (i.e. Index 601 sheet 1 of 1) would you use to plan/implement a temporary traffic control zone described above.

2. If cones were to be used to create the taper (later transition,) how many cones would be used to create the taper (lateral transition) if the posted speed is 55 mph and the width of the lane is 12'. Hint: what is the length of the taper and the distance between devices (cones). Divide the total distance by the distance between devices.

3. Continuing with this hypothetical scenario, what signs would be used and how many of each sign would be used to create this temporary traffic control zone?
