But in order to receive the title, he had to defeat his father, Cronus, as well as his brothers, Poseidon and Hades. Athena, the goddess who favors Odysseus, begged Zeus for help to rescue Odysseus. Zeus, being the god of all gods, said that if everyone turns against Poseidon, he could never fight back. And so, Athena rushed to Telemachus to challenge the suitors and search for his father, thus starting the Odyssey. Zeus' father, Cronus, scared of his children overpowering him and taking his place at Mt.Olympus, he swallowed all of Zeus' siblings. Many years later when Zeus reached adult hood, he disguised himself and tricked Cronus into drinking a liquid that forced him to vomit all his children.
