Last year was a rough year for me. I just didn't do well. But this year I was determined to turn myself around and do better, and that's exactly what I did. My favorite subject in school is Science. It’s my favorite subject because my Science teacher makes it fun and interesting. In the future I plan to go to college and graduate. What I want to do when I'm older is maybe be a videographer or photographer. I was born in Guatemala and traveled a lot when I was younger. I am also bilingual. I am really fortunate that I had the privilege of being taught Spanish as a child.

Through all of this the one person that was always there for me was my mom. She was there for me at my worst and helped me to get to my best. If I needed help on my homework she would stay up late if she had to. She would come to ceremonies where I was getting an award. Even when she had her own class that she had to be with, she would always make time for me. I would like to thank everyone who helped me get where I am today. I would not be where I am today without the support I've had. 

When I grow up I want to be a Marine Biologist. I want to ensure the health of our oceans. I also want to be an artist as a side job. My biggest goal in life is to explore oceans. 

  I’ve always participated academically and athletically. At Red Bluff High, I plan to take advanced placement classes and participate in football, basketball, and track. What I learn and the grades I earn will enable me to attend a university. There isn’t a particular college that I’ve decided upon, but I do plan on going to a university. The Marines will be another option that I may consider. Nonetheless, I’d like to thank my parents for encouraging me to do well in school and for attending and encouraging me to participate in sports. In addition, I’d like to thank my teachers for selecting, pushing, and challenging me to always do better. 

Once again, it’s an honor to have been considered, let alone chosen as the student of the year. 

Hello, my name is David Santoyo. I am 11 years old and I go to Rancho Tehama Elementary. I am in 5th grade. My favorite subject in class is math. In my free time, I like to play Nitrotype. Nitrotype is a website typing game. This game has improved my typing speed. Another thing I like to do with free time is to play sports. My favorite sport currently is basketball. The last thing I like to do with my time is going on walks when I get home from school. I want to complete 8 years of college to become an Intellectual Property Lawyer.
