I’ve been teaching since 2002 after a 20 year career in the US Air Force and a 3 year sojourn at US Airways.  I traveled across the globe extensively in my military career, predominantly in Europe and Asia.  I have lived in the Republic of Korea for two years over two tours of duty at Osan and Kunsan.  I was a fellow for the National History Day Understanding Sacrifice program Honolulu and Manila and a national fellow in the US State department Teachers for Global Classrooms program teaching in the Republic of Georgia. I have traveled through Germany in the Transatlantic Outreach Program experience and last year, I was a Fulbright-Hays scholar studying about a month in Israel.

By keeping relationships with our students throughout all 4 years of high school, we are uniquely positioned to influence global awareness by systematically including a global perspective in all aspects of our citizenship program, not just in a defined geography curriculum.  As we explore ways for our students to seek to be citizens of value, we naturally encourage societal values of tolerance, solidarity, equality, justice, inclusion, and co-operation. It is a school-within-a-school that keeps students though a rotating curriculum for all 4 years of high school to develop citizens of character. We teach two primary courses per year. The first year course is a blend of Aerospace History and Leadership Education in citizenship, character, and tradition. It is taught each semester.  The upper-class course is a rotating curriculum that includes semester courses in The Science of Flight; Cultural Studies: An Introduction to Global Awareness; The Exploration of Space; Management of the Cadet Corps; World Geography: Building a Global Perspective; Communication, Awareness, and Leadership; Life Skills and Career Opportunities; and Principles of Management.
