"A picture is worth a thousand words" when people are explaining things, they are usually painting a picture for the reader. Describing the way something looks or the way something felt can often take pages, just to get through to the reader how amazing this thing was. One picture can sum up a thousand words that could have been used to describe this. Pictures can often hold memories, a family picture can mean nothing to someone but to someone like an orphan or someone who doesn't know what a family is it could be worth so many words and emotions. Words aren't always needed to get a message through to people, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand worth.

Honestly, I do not know how it relates to the activity, but what I think or guess how it relates to the activity is that according to the analysis, there are many words to describe the picture. When the person looks at a picture, there are so many words for the person to describe it as (like about a thousand words). The graph can represent so much data, but it can also represent it in different forms of graphs (table of values, etc...). BTW the statement is wrong, there are like more than a thousand words to describe the picture.

Then, when it says, "That a picture is worth a thousand words," it means that a picture is a simple to understand and as important to someone(personally) as if it were a project or anything that has a thousand words.
This metaphor is a great example in the math activity we just did because every question we had to do, we always looked at a picture/graph to not only find the info, but, to also reassure ourselves that what we think is CORRECT.

For example, a table of values can be put into a graph. A picture is also many pixels put together.

A picture is worth a thousand words relates to the activity because its the same information but represented in two different ways. The first way (the harder way), is represented in word/number format which is more complicated than the other way. The easy way (picture/graph way) is less complicated. All you have to do is look at the image/graph and that's it. The other way you have to read and analyze for a bit until you find the answer. In the saying, the "picture" is the graph which is easy to understand and the "thousand words" is the more complicated way.

A picture is worth a thousand words. This saying has significance due to human nature. We are naturally prone to understand colorful representations of data rather than blank and meaningless words. It is just easier due to the fact that graphs present information in a simple viewer-friendly format. This saying has significance in our lesson because we had a choice to use the graph or the chart to answer the question. Most of us chose the graph for the reasons mentioned above.

A picture is worth more to some people than to others. You don"t necessarily need to talk to get a point through. Sometimes a picture can explain things, a person won"t tell you. For example if I saw a picture of a boy on Maya"s phone, I would assume she cared about him, even if she wouldn't tell me herself. This saying also relates to math because for example a pictograph shows data as well as or sometimes better than a bar graph. The pictures explain the data without many words and numbers.
