The lion makes Pyramus believe that Thisbe is dead and Balthasar makes Romeo believe that Juliet is dead. So, Balthasar and the lion represent the same character. In Romeo and Juliet Balthasar states, "I saw her buried in her family's tomb, and then I came here to tell you the news." Because of Balthasar's message Romeo decided to go to the Capulet's tomb. Pyramus and Thisbe states, "Before him lay the bloodstained shreds of the cloak and clear in the dust were the tracks of the lioness." The tracks of the lioness made Pyramus belive that Thisbe was eaten.
